Hey all,
New to the site, but looks like a wealth of info, and it is all about CAMAROS!!!! (and Firebirds etc...). My question is, i have a bone stock (soon to be remedied) black 98 Z-28.
I used to (ex wife) have a 95 Impala SS with the auto dimming mirror. Some of the specialty camaros, i.e. the Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS and the sorts had auto dimming mirrors. Anyone have an idea on where to get, part number, etc? Dealers were NOT helpful that made the cars.
Second is, anyone know if the 2000 and up sterring wheel mounted radio controls will work, can be backfitted to go onto my 98? Anything would be helpful. Thanks!

You will need a mirror that also has the map/interior lights on the bottom so that limits your choices. The only one I know of is made by Gentex. It has a compass and outside temperature indicator and you can get it direct (Mito Corp at www.mitocorp.com) or from J.C. Whitney for the full $299 retail price or I found it here http://www.brandsmall.com/0011-50-genk30.html for only $199.
I installed one (at full price <sigh>) last year and have been very pleased with it.
yes, but you need a 2000 steering wheel, airbag, and clock spring to make it work.

Ryan means you will need those things to make the steering wheel controls work. You don't need them to make the mirror work! :)

Anyone have the steering wheel part number. I just came from the dealer and he could not find a difference in the steering wheels in the parts listing. I know it is option UK3 on the 2002's, but again, he was not a help.
I do have the part number for the different airbag module, but need the one for the steering wheel. Also, what is the "clock spring"? Does anyone have an idea on how the factory radio will match the the steering wheel controls? I know it's a lot, but if someone has done this, any info would be great.

I can only help with one of your questions. Your dealer's parts guy must not have learned how to read - the different steering wheels are listed as plain as day. 93-99 has two different wheels - vinyl or leather. 2000-02 also has two different wheels - vinyl with no controls or leather with radio controls (it says "INCLS RADIO SWITCHES" right in the listing). The part number is 16825299.
