I have a 99 T/A WS6 and cannot get the front turn signals to work, either side. However, the signals DO flash when locking the car (so I conclude the bulb and sockets are ok). Also, the parking lights switched to on will illuminate the bulbs, as well as when the headlights are turned on. When I turn the hazard flashers on, only the rear flashes. Also, when using the turn signals, the rears flash as they should. It just doesn't do anything up front.

I thought it was the DRL module that went bad and did not want to spend the $ since they are so expensive. So I followed the instructions on how to bypass the DRL module here:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/5235252-post5.html

Anyway, the front turn signals still do not work, either side. When probing the dark blue and dark blue with white wires behind the DRL module, my test light DOES light up with the key on and signals on. Same for the light blue and light blue with white wires.

Help! I'm about fed up with this... I can't tell you how many sockets and bulbs i've replaced on this car. That's the main reason I want to get rid of the DRL's.

Have you tried replacing the blinker modules? They're what make the signal lights actually blink. Bet that's your culprit. They in your fuse block. They large and metallic. You should see them on the diagram.

You talking about those 30A fuse looking things with the metal cover over them? There are 2 of them, but I don't have my diagram to know which is which. I swapped their positions and plugged them back in and the problem remained the same. Is one front and one rear? or right and left?

They are right and left. The front and back ones on thier same respective sides are on the same circuit.

alright, so apparently those are fine since the rear signals work (left and right).

Any other ideas? HELP!

Wow! I don't know where you guys hear this stuff...

Have you tried replacing the blinker modules? They're what make the signal lights actually blink. Bet that's your culprit. They in your fuse block. They large and metallic. You should see them on the diagram. The "blinker modules" (otherwise known as flashers) are under the dash on either side of the steering column. But since he is getting flashing power at the DRL module, we know that the flasher is working properly.

They are right and left. The front and back ones on thier same respective sides are on the same circuit. There isn't a car made that has separate flashers for left and right sides (at least not in North America).

There are two flashers in our cars - one is for turn signals (both sides) and the other is for hazard lights (all four corners). Power is fed through the flasher before getting to the turn signal switch so it is already cycling on and off (flashing) before being switched to whichever side of the car.

Here is the response I sent to the OP when asked in a PM:
Okay, you've established that there is flashing power at your bypass near the DRL module with the ignition and turn signals on - so we can eliminate the flasher as a cause of the problem. My first guess would be that the bulbs are burned out. Those are dual filament bulbs so it's quite common for the T/S and DRL bright filament to be burned out while the parking light dim filament is still fine (the parking light is what flashes for the alarm).

My second guess would be the socket. There is nothing but wire between the DRL module and the front lamps (i.e. there are no relays or other devices) so the next thing is to check that the power is getting to the sockets. It's safe to assume that the ground is working at the sockets since the parking lights work. So, use a test light or multimeter to check if you get flashing power at the socket (remember - check all of the socket contacts because there are separate power and ground contacts for T/S and for parking lights). If you find flashing power at the socket then your bulb is burned out. If not then there is a break in the wires somewhere or the socket is faulty.

Excellent, that's exactly what I needed to know. Will be checking that tomorrow--it's probably the bulbs as I didn't think about there being 2 filaments (bright and dim). Thanks for your help!

i had the same problem. back probe the dark blue/white tracer wire on the drl module harness. if u have voltage when the right turn signal is switched on then it is the drl module. the light blue/white tracer is the left turn signal coming into the drl module. u can check that one too. i went to a salvage yard and got one for $50. problem fixed

Thanks WhiteBird00! It ended up being the sockets not making good contact, I tweaked them a bit and all is fine now. Also took this as an opportunity to replace the 10 year old lenses. Check out the difference between the new one and the old one:

yuck that old lens is nasty.
