Well it's that time... to replace the vert top. Did you guys go with a vinyl or glass rear window? why?
How quickly does the vinyl window turn yellow?
What is the weight difference b/t the two?
Thanks, Matt

I would imagine the weight is insignificant. I don't really see the point in vinyl when glass is more durable and looks better.
But I'd also like to know how fast vinyl would turn yellow.

I went with glass, I have another vert with vinyl and have had them in the past also, they always went opaque and yellow way to quick for my blood. On my olds the top was about a year old when I bought the car, withing a year it was already looking bad.
The glass won't yellow, has a defroster, and good luck trying to tint your vinyl window. I have my back window tinted darkest tint available.

I went with glass too when I replace the window curtain. I wanted the defroster, living in MD. The glass has got to be heavier than the plastic. On the other hand, I don't know if the plastic window will eventually separate from the material like it seems all the glass windows do. The plastic is a bit cheaper too.

i would say glass as well, nothing ruins the look of a nice car worse than yellow faded plastic windows

I wouldn't care if glass weighed 200 lbs more. I would never get vinyl. Vinyl is CRAP! It leaves creases and marks up real easy. Trust me, I have two other verts with vinyl and I wish I could change them to glass but the mechanisms do not allow for it. The Meguiars products do a decent job on plastic/vinyl but no where close to new. The one thing American car makers had over everyone else in the 90's was the wisdom of glass vert rear windows. They were light years ahead of the German manufacturers anyway. By the way, yellowing isn't much of an issue anymore unlss you buy total garbage. It is mostly the creasing and marking.

Thanks guys! I purchased a black cloth top with rear glass, no defroster. We'll see about installing it myself!

Glass definitely looks better so I would go with that.
