any requirements other then a helmet? I might just come out...

Just a helmut and cash to pay your fees.

how should I be setting the shocks on the car? any pointers...I'll probably come out...never did this before though, only the 1/4 mile...I wanna save myself as much embarassment as possible...

How to set your shocks? Well, if they're currently set "soft", the firm them up a little! ;) I wouldn't necessarily go FULL firm, but maybe ~50% up from where they're currently set. AFAIK, KYB shocks have a dial on the side that's fairly easily accessible, right? Heck, tweak them in between runs if the car feels funny! Keep in mind, you will get faster after each run you do, esp. if it's your first time.
