Ive been looking for one these similar to the one shown in JRP's faq for engine removal.

Checked out some of the hardware stores around town but I dont have much to choose from where im located. After doing this the other night without any type of cart just using two jacks, some blocks and jack stands ill never do it that way again. If I could find some heavy duty wheels I could buy some tubing and make one myself. Guess it needs to be about 6 inches or so of the ground.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Why not use a mover's dolly similar to this one?

Most of them will hold more weight than you'll need it to and they're relatively cheap. If it doesn't sit tall enough, you could add a length of 4x4 between the casters and the dolly.

I was looking at wooden types probably just get one similar to that and reinforce it. Engine/trans/k-member seems like a lot for something like that.

Yup...A movers dolly is the way to go. Most are rated at 1000lbs which is more than adequate. Here's a shot of my complete LS1/4L60E drop-out on one.
A tip if you go this route is to ratchet-strap the dolly to the motor/trans. I learned the hard way. I think I paid less than $20 for the dolly at
Harbor Freight. Worked like a charm.
