I am not sure if you all have heard about it,but the 2011 Ford Mustang GT will be a 5.0 liter 32valve DOHC engine.Rumors are the new Mustang will also have 5.0 badging on the front fenders. Here is a link...http://www.motorauthority.com/mustang-50-fender-badge-to-return-with-new-50l-v8-for-2011.html

and another...http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/18/return-of-the-5-0-ford-exec-confirms-400-hp-coyote-v8-coming/3
It appears Ford didnt like the idea of their GT getting smoked by the SS.

Yeah,Mustang guys have been wanting the 5.0 back for some time.Eventhough this time...it is not a pushrod engine.

It damn well better have the 5.0 badges on the fenders. Otherwise, things just wouldn't be right in the universe.
I was really worried that this engine wasn't going to see the light of day. Now I wonder how long it will stay in production, just like I wonder about the new Camaro.

According to GM,Camaro sales are exceeding expectations. After all,it is out-selling the 2010 Mustang so far.http://www.topspeed.com/cars/chevrolet-camaro/ke248.html

If it makes the rumored 400 HP and they can keep the weight off the GT, it'll trump the Camaro no problem. I'm a GM guy, but the new Camaro doesn't do it for me. I prefer the styling of the new GT; this motor will be the icing on the cake!

I agree, eventhough I like the styling of the new Camaro. If the new Mustang is going to be 400plus horsepower and stays in the 3500-3600lb area it should take the 2010 Camaro SS fairly easily. However, what does GM have in store for the 2011 Camaro?

i think its a step in the right direction but fords small cubes make them not so torquey, i also hate the 10' mustang styling, i think the previous 05-9 were much better looking..
At my bodyshop were putting stripes on 32 camaros for a local dealer, and ive done my share of Gts/cobra mustangs, and let me tell you the Camaros are badass, Id love a cyber grey SS and i think it looks much better then the mustang hands down in ever aspect. I would have loved to see a trans am of course but we all know pontiacs fate, but i bet gm will step up the power in the next years, hell even the v6s have 300hp 6 speeds! Id love to see a "ZL1" option with an even bigger motor...

Obama's not going to allow a Horsepower war. We all need to be switching over to fuel efficient cars. Umm... didn't you get the memo comrade?

Of course, I'm going to laugh my ass off when Ford is moving every single one of their V8's and the hybrids are sitting there collecting dust. That free market is a motherfucker.

They are. It gets a new auto and manual. Both six speeds.

Yea. Bring them back and stick 307s in them so old people can go get groceries?
Only a very low number of Chevelles HAD any performance. I only liked them because they were comfortable.
GM needs some new names that stick. I am not against bringing anything back from the past but nothing fits.

looks too plain for me, but the performance potential is there. Looks like a car a woman would drive, not bold enough.

Look at the date of that article, it isn't Obama, it's the EPA, and they havent wanted it since W was in office. Obama drove a SRT8 till he caught flack and got a Hybrid Escape.

and....most Camaros had a 250ci six cyl so kids with mullets could look fast but not have to worry about an actual speeding ticket....what is your point?
Fact is,the Chevelle SS was the true Chevrolet muscle car. Most likely if it was ever brought back it would not be done right any how.Look at the GTO and Charger.

itll move with 400 horses. but how much more will it cost?
lovescamaros28

Yeah,I think they will use a 6 speed transmission.Possibly the TR6060 six speed that the gt500 and new Camaro SS comes with.Different gear ratio's of course.

Well since Ford seems like it will be using the new 5.0 as the replacement for the current 4.6 (which is supposedly slated to be discontinued either this year or next), it's possible that that the price increase will be small or even nonexistant. But that's still all hearsay until Ford actually does it.
