Alright so I have a couple threads in the classified sections. I bought a stealth box and sure enough my RE SE sub doesn't fit. The magnet is about 6.5" wide and the box diagonals from less than 5 3/4" wide and up to 6 1/2" wide. Now I'm sure there isn't anything I can do to make the sub fit without ruining the box and/or sub.I don't really want to sell it and then buy another one but if I have to I will. But just open to any suggestions... also what does the inside/backside of your stealth box look like? Here is mine:

I've had two different boxes and they each fit subs differently. Try another brand. Subthump seem sto have a good clearance inside the box.

you think maybe something like a 1" spacer on the mounting surface would make it clear? Might be a cheap fix if there are any box builders or you feel like cutting wood.

This is why I just had a local audio shop custom build me one for my specific sub.

Okay and ... ? Thanks I guess?
Spy: I don't know how well that would hold up or sound. So I'm just gonna go with a new box I guess.
BIG MIKE: Yeah I should've done my research to see if sub fit in the box.

I would go this route if you are handy with the saw, etc. This is a very easy fix. What is the cu/ft area inside the box? Is your sub matched to this? I know that for a sealed box it doesn't make as much of a difference then ported boxes. Just a suggestion.

I'm not sure on the measurements on the box. It looks well made but I'd rather not have a spacer near the top. Just for the mere fact that it might not hold up and the look factor. Either way I'm probably just gonna throw my Pioneer in there and sell it and if not that just sell it outright. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Does the sub fit?
MOST 10's will fit in this box and it just so happens that my new one doesn't.

Actually any larger size motor structure on a sub like your RE Audio or Fi won't fit in that box. The only ones I'm familiar with that do work with large motor structure subs are the ones I build and Subthump. The MTX thunderform will also work possibly but you may runinto an issue with the cutout diameter being too small. The sub that generally comes in the Thuinderform or Bass Slammer is a 4500 series sub which is a very small 10" sub. The cutout diameter with the SE10 and Q10 subs are larger then the sub that comes in the MTX box and it is made of plastic so you may have an issue getting it to fit just right...maybe.
I build my fiberglass boxes to accommodate large motor subs and even some 12" subs.

I had the same exact problem with my stealth boxes and my Infinity Perfect 10s. I just marked where I needed to and took a chisel to it and took a little off at a time. Took a half hour of so per box, and I actually didn't even have to take out as much as I thought. Even if you do make it thin in those areas, you can just cut a small 1x1 strip of MDF and put it on the ouside in the 90" where it would be thin. That would yeild alot more room. Its really not that big a deal...

Ummm just letting you know the RE SE 10'' fits in a subthump stealth, in case you wanted to sell your crappy box.

A mounting/spacer ring to raise the speaker out of the box and the magnet above the obstruction is a good solution as it also ceates more operation space/area in the box for the speaker to work with more efficiently. Pretty? Maybe, maybe not. Effective? Yes.

You should say that instead of just some random post. Like I said, I should've done my research before hand but I couldn't get a hold of anyone with a new SE to get the measurements. Thanks though. Looking into selling it and purchasing something new.

I'd rather just buy a new one ... well see how it goes. I'm not in a rush right now though. I need a new amp now too so ... yeah.
