I have had a Moser 12 bolt for the last 5 years.

I got it through Fast Toys.

For Strange I have no idea.

I know a couple guys in TFBM are running 9", one is a sheet metal and the other I think is a Moser.

I have blown up my Moser 4 times, so they are not the be all, but I have always had a little extra torque.

Yeah but I only use the 8.8 pumpkin I fab up everything else and its completely bolt in to your car and your stock brakes, suspensio and even 4channel ABS if need be. It bolts in just as easy as a stock 10 bolt. I upgrade to large 9" bolt on housing ends ( no clips and the biggest bearing available ) and I upgrade to Moser 31 or 33 spline axles. i typically recommend 31 spline because you can then run the Ford Trac-Loc posi which is bullet proof. If you go 33 spline your carrier choices are limited ( spool mainly ) and besides on a 31 spline 8.8 Trac Loc 10 seasons running 9's in Paul Silva's shop car without one failure was enough proof for me.

0.2" difference on the ring gear and the 9" is substantially heavier and robs more power. Different pinion location on the 9" makes it a tad stronger in comparable set up but the 9" also robs approx 3% more of your hp to drive it because of the added pinion location friction loss. 9" tend to be louder and the tubes are larger dia so the stock bump stops hit sooner as well as the stock sway bar brackets do not bolt to a 9"

Not to totally bash the 9" because you can get gun drilled 35 spline axles but your looking at some serious $$$ and there is no need for that unless you have a very heavy car or our into 8 second territory.

Differentials are no different than anything else. Heck I could put a planetary drive dump truck axle into a camaro ( which probably weighs more than the whole car ) and I dont car if you make 12,000 rwhp your not going to break it but where does overkill become the trade off over weight, efficiency, fitment, road friendly, etc etc etc?

My fastest customer is on the fifth season on his 8.8 and running 1.3x 60's walking the wheels high 9 second 1/4's and not him ( nor anyone for that matter ) that I have built an 8.8 for yet has managed to break it
