Hey guys, the N/A 408 is near completion and exhaust is in question.

None the less this will be a loud mofo and it will get old very quick in the summer when the top is down.

SO far I 'am thinking:

headers-> 2 cutouts(each side)->X pipe-> magnaflow mufflers.

This way I can have the noise for some WOT fun when i open the cut outs and have a decent sounding exhaust in DD.

I have LTs into 2.5in duals through bullet mufflers and out the back. Its got a nice sound, but isnt annoying like my TSP duals

TSP Duals with Sweet Thunder (Chambered) mufflers. Sounds amazing top up or down.

it doesnt sound like your looking for reasonably quiet however thats what i wanted for regular driving yet not sacrificing all out performance. my local speed shop recomended EDELBROCK RPM. inside the muffler it has 3 straight thru aprox 1 inch tubes. pleasant normal driving yet sounds great wide open. just my 2 cents.

I have a set of coated Hooker LTs with a Flowmaster merge pipe. Not sure of primary sides of merge, but think outlet is 3 1/2" and connects to off road 3 1/2" custom bent tailpipe to Magnaflow stainless muffler with Stainless magnaflow tips. I'm old school, so I like my car stealthy until you slam it so it has a nice but not harshly loud idle. It opens up when you smack the throttle though and seems to flow very well. Had 3" flowmaster with flowmaster cat back before and this seems to run better, but it's purely seat of the pants.

I am looking for something decently quiet, so I can have a conversation in the car with cutouts closed but the car still purs on start up/ idle and going from a stop light. do you have an audio clip?

I had a Hooker aerochamber and took it off and put my SLP Dual/Dual back on with dual electric cutouts.

The Dual/Dual is one of the quietest, best flowing mufflers there is. I can listen to my radio/CD plater or converse once again. When I want to let it loose, the open cutouts are just a push of a button away.

The OP probably bought his by now but I sure enjoyed your clip. I appreciate keeping cars stock but yours reminded me of sitting at Daytona International Speedway. Brought a smile to my face. It really sounded good at three different levels. Be smart around town because a policeman's head will turn instantly hearing that come down the street as you are well aware.
