Outside the box, innovate thinking. Will it work? Not sure, but I give GM credit for trying something new since the old way clearly isn't all that great.

I'd be curious to see their plan on this. They aren't really setup to deliver thousands of cars to customers. I bet dealers won't like people just coming in to test drive the cars and then going online to buy them

I bet dealers have a fit over this one.
Its a nice way to reduce older and slow moving inventory.
Dealer still makes money fixing them under warranty and a lot of people would still rather buy from a dealer at a higher price. I'm sure GM can cut a deal with a larger transport company so delivery wont be a problem.
It all depends on how much $$ you save, like some other direct sellers if you buy from them you wont get that much of a better deal, just the manufacture gets to pocket the profit. In the end eBay will be the big winner..

Guys the cars are still being sold from the dealers. They are coming off the dealers lots, the middle man is still in the equation. Straight from the ebay sight;
Q: Where are these vehicles located?
A: The vehicles that you can select from are located at participating California GM dealerships. By entering your zip code to begin your search, eBay Motors will be able to provide results that show actual vehicles at dealerships in your locale.
The prices are regular dealer prices.

I guess they are trying to cash in on the lazyness of people? Or maybe trying to cater to the internet generation? Because people really don't want to deal with the dealerships anymore I know I don't. If this is one of the really great ideas from the "New" GM I am not impressed. Now if they were selling these for manufacturing cost plus a little for profit straight from the factory, then that would be something. But then the dealerships would just sue the shit out of Gm for unfair competition. I don't know maybe I just expected to much from new GM.

I would do anything to circumvent the "dealership experience"

I would be much more interested if GM would host the sales themselves and leave the ebay component out of it.
GM will probably get banned for stating items are like NEW.
Forced to accept paypal for down payments.
Other stupid ebay regulations!!! ugh

The prices are regular dealer prices. Dodge has been doing it forever here. It's annoying when searching for a truck and then coming across 3 pages of brand new trucks from Spring Dodge.

In the year 2030:
Me: "Way, way back in 2009 I was talking to this car salesman..."
Son: "Car salesman? What, like he only sold cars?"
Me: "Yeah. At a 'dealership'. We used to call them 'stealerships' heh, heh."
Son: "What's a 'dealership?'"
Me: "Well, it was this big place with a whole lot of cars. There were several in every town. We hated them because dealing with the salesmen sucked and the service sucked and was WAY overpriced."
Son: "I guess I can see why they stopped selling cars that way. Kind of stupid way to sell something. I mean, the overhead must have been horrendous. There was one in every town?!"
