Been there, not stationed there, taking another trip down to the area and Mt. Rushmore at the end of the month.

BTW, shitty time to show up. You'll see the worst it has to offer right away. Tons of snow and always windy. The little bit I saw of the base was pretty decent though. I believe the BX is crazy small if I heard correctly though.

Its worse than Alaska winters, but at least you'll have a good backround to start w/. I know a couple people that were stationed in AK and loved it compared to here. Apparently it is colder here on a more regular basis and there isn't the wind up there that there is down here. Just what I been told. These winters suck, and this one coming up is supposed to be worse than last years. Which is just plain ludicrous...

LOL well I dont know if youd call it love but there is a pretty decent "car" scene... Big variety old and new, dirt track, drag racing, bikes and 4X4 trails

been here about 3 weeks know and havent heard of any "MEET" spots ... used to be years ago at the bottom of Rushmore road but think its mostly high school kids now.

Lots of car shows during the summer (3 since i been here) and not 15-20 cars... no no 100+ kool deadwood nights was last weekend saw about 150+ classic mucsle and i believe there is another one this weekend or next

So I ran into Cooley today from Dyess, u remember him? Anyway I gave a little fam class and was upstairs for like 25 min in the 110 degree heat here and about baked....fuck I dont miss that shit, I was sweating balls by the time I got down, lol.

Ellsworth is not as bad as Minot. if you are an outdoors person you will love it lots of fishing and GREAT bird hunting. be ready to drive though.

yeah they know, and to tell you the truth i still haven't worked on the line yet. LOL been trying to get caught up on training crap and scheduled for classes. Finally got a fault D slot lol... oh yeah and also just finished re-writing the forms training binder.... I looked at a couple of pulled sets of forms and u should have seen how big my eyes got... and these were already reviewed and waiting to go to the folders... WOW..

you remember Mike Marino? he was at dyess when i got there then went to LSET team four years ago and is now my flight chief lol.. i showed him the forums and we were both like WTF. so i didnt so calling around, talked to QA (that guy was clueless, sad thing was he was a crew chief from here 8yrs exp) and came to the conclusion we had to fix this.

LOL Sounds like I'm gonna love it down there. Marino did my EPE during our LSET last year. I saw his name on my sponsor letter, and thought the name sounded familiar.

well I had the duty this past weekend and I could have played the"i'm a new guy thing" but didnt... not supposed to actually go to the line until i go through Maint. Oreintation ( since i havent done MRT in like three yrs ) but I been sneeking out there now and again. crew i worked with this weekend was funny, i was second highest ranking out there so I didnt get to do much, t tried to jump out on a brake change but that didnt last long LOL ... trying to find out how long i got to wait to get all my crap back (X orders and what ever) training dude say he thinks i'll have to wait till like Jan feb since i had been out for more than 24 months.

Well, I'm heading down south starting at 0700 on Saturday. 8 days of hell.

I will be joining you guys there in about 6 months. Can't wait should be fun there. Whoever is a crew chief I'm sure I will run into you also as there's a 98% chance I will out there on the line as a mechanic. Unless they send me to test cell which is where I work at here in misawa.

I'm a crew chief. This base is tiny. Other than that, we close on our house on thursday, so things should return to normal. Hopefully I'll get into some sort of transition course.
