First off, I love this car. Feels great and is very smooth.

There is no need to go with 93 octane unless I get a tune for 93 correct?

There's nothing wrong with staying with 87 right?

There any hard evidence that a vararam type intake is better than a intake like a rotofab?

When is the best time for a tune? After an intake and catback, or just after intake, or before either?

Thanks guys, I'm really enjoying it. The dual zone AC and the 6 disc changer is very nice. Not to mention the nice power it has. The interior is so roomy and feels good. I wasn't too hot about the leather one I test drove, so I got the cloth and it's pretty dang nice.

Read your owners manual concerning 87 octane. You may want to go 89.

I would run 89.

Vararam is proven better. I have both and there is no comparison on the big end.

All intakes require a tune for maximum gains. Exhaust does not, but headers do.

I've just been running 87. What's the big thing with running 89? I'm concerned because I would be filling up a lot more often with 89. lol

The G8 timing tables, especially at cruise and AFM enabled are little aggressive for 87. You might see some KR.

I could feel the difference between 87 and 93 even on the stock tune. I would run 91-93 before the tune and now 93 all the time.

I'm pretty sure that the vararam edges out the roto-fab slightly. Not sure if back to back tests on the same car have been done. forum.grrrr8.net has all you answers.

I believe (unless someone knows someone faster) I have the best time tune only with 13.02-13.05 @ 106-108 respectively. That's tune only, stock intake.

Best tune/cai is like a 12.89? he's on this board. Cat-backs are only seeing a gain in like 2-6 hp. Most of the exhaust restriction is believed to be in the headers, right before they make a 90 degree turn to the cats. So you won't see much of a difference post c-b.

Nice color choice. What options?

If you do only 3 things to your G8
Intake, Kooks or ARH, and a tune(make sure you get a good TCM tune with it)
These three add around 50-55 RWHP

Yep, I totally agree! And he may even want to unplug the battery, so it goes back to the high octane tables and only run 93 octane BP, Shell, or Mobil.

Does anyone have a sound clip of Kooks with Corsa? I'm wanting it to be real quiet inside still. That's my only hold back for trying headers in the future. Cuz my T/A is REAL loud with headers and Corsa. I know that the Corsa alone sounds amazing inside and I'll still hardly hear the car.

I never got to the track before the tune. But the best stock GT in pretty good conditions put down like a 13.5 @ 103 I think? It was like driving a brand new car after the tune man. The shifts, the power delivery, everything.

It's pretty much a basic car. cloth, 6 disc changer, no sunroof

Thanks for all the advice guys.

If you run Kooks or ARH header/exhaust system with the stock mufflers the car will be very quiet. It only gets loud at WOT. I just drove 540 miles from Detriot with 3.27 gears and sometimes I was checking to see if the car was still running.

My neighbor has the New era performance intake on his GT. Its the Over the Radiator type of intake. looks nice and he got good gains out of it. Might be worth a look

The G8 was originally advertised with 93, but you can run either just fine.

You don't really need a tune for either the intake or catback. But if you are going to do a Tune, do it after the intake, catback won't matter.
