Just got here about a month ago. Curious who all is here. I'm an MTI in training so I don't have a lot of time with the car but I try when I get the chance. I found out that Lethal performance is the place to go to as a shop with a good rep. And that there's a board call the San Antonio F-body Association.

Pipe,
Sorry I missed you man. I'm in the RoK right now at Osan. I'll be back for mid tour about march or so and we will have to hook up. Other local boards there check out texasracers.com, not a bad little site. I would also check out Nelson Performance and Henderson Performance for tuning needs, both Alan (Nelson) and Cory (Henderson) are damn good guys and they both know there shit. Later,

Hows MTI training? I was thinkin about that. Im sick of 2 years straight 6 days of 14 hour shifts for an unnecessary reason.

^....you gota be acft maint. I would know all about those hours too, did them for almost 8 years, then I was TOLD to re-train. Best thing that ever happened to me. Although at times I think of the MTI deal too.

Oh yeah because working 8 1/2 weeks straight 12-18 hour days are better? I did the MTI thing for 5 years and just came back to maintenance and I will never bitch about the hours we as maintainers work ever again. If your wanting to be a MTI because your tired of the hours your working on a flight line your smoking crack.

I moved here about 8 months ago myself, all the fbody guys I've met are cool so far. I haven't had any work done there, but I did attend a fun dyno day at Lethal.

Its all good. When I first got here everything was in total chaos as it was. I ended up "preing" for about 3 weeks. Started school about a week 1/2 ago.. I ended up getting a house off of 1604 between marbach and patranco.. pretty nice. Thanks for the tips.. It'll come in good use when I get time to do some stuff with the car.

Well its not fun and its not easy. My longest day thus far has been 17 1/2 hours long... I just can't wait till I get qualified and I'm on my own. The first year is going to suck but after that i should be good.

Welcome to SA. I am a civlian working over at Kelly, or Port of San Antonio. The Fbod guys around here are, for the most part, pretty good guys. Give Henderson Performance Technologies www hendersonperformance com in New Braunfels a call too when you go to get some work done. Just as another option.

you will love MTI duty, probably most rewarding job in AF, I was deputy/commander of the 3706BMTS from 84-87 (10 sqds then) and enjoyed working with the best people I ever encountered in my 21 year career...by the way I was an aircraft maintenance officer most of my career so I can relate to the long hours, I however tried hard to keep day to 5 days and no more than 10 hour days, except during deployments and desert storm most of the time it was doable...I was in MAC/AMC most of the time however and retired in 1999 so times do change. I salute all those who serve our country and miss the challenge, travel, but mostly the people. Enjoy San Antonio a really great town with cultural heritage worth exploring.
