Military Hotrod Club - sooo, Ft Sill?

So this past week, out of the blue I got orders to ft sill in the beggining of next year. Never been thier, what's it like? Any car stuff to do out thier? I'm an east coast kid. I figure it's close to Texas so that's got to be good. Any and all input would be nice, cause I'm married with two kids. Thanx!

I used to work in Lawton and it's pretty lame IMO there is a good Fbody and vette crowd in Wichita Falls,tx. OKC is okay but I would rather drive to DFW to shop and you will have more things to do for your kids. And also there are more resturants and the mall is better and there water park is better down in W.F. But that's just me I know i'm not in the military but I saw your post and thought I would help you out on your question.

Thanx man. Keep hearing that Lawton is lame. How far are the drag strips from that area. Thanx by the way for the input, good to know about better areas. How far is witchita falls?

There is a brand new 1/8 mile track south of lawton on I-44 it's a good spot and W.F. is about 35 min away on the turnpike and there is another drag strip in w.f. it's off hwy 287 on c.r.369. And roads are a lil rough in lawton there are some rides in lawton but there is alot of Ricers.

I have been in for awhile but the only time ive been stationed outside virginia was either when i was in Iraq, or when i was in Japan, and bieng that i am from virginia, ive never had to deal with out of state registration, so how do i get the virginia state inspection living in oklahoma? Do i have to switch my plates over?

unless you plan to move there for good I don't think so but you might wanna check that while your up there how you can get your up to date regrestration and inspection. And all you see in lawton is military folks and none of them ever change there plates.

i know for california since i was stationed elsewhere they let you renew your vehicle and get new tags without IM'ing i would check at your local DMV first. thats funny what you said about your orders a month ago i just came down on orders for Ft sill with a report date of somewhere in january.. I ETS in May gotta love the Army I did a Decs statment so i wont be going but i heard it sucked.
