I am stationed in Stutggart Germany. I will ship my LS1 powered 67 Camaro there after this deployment, should be sometime in October. I will not drive it until some time in March, winters get pretty bad where I am at.

I hear you have to be at least an e5 to get it shipped by the army and if you pay for it yourself it costs a few grand. Is that about right? Cause id kill to have an ls1 in germany :)

No that is not true. You just have to have it stated on your orders .
POV Shipment authorized at Govt expense, or words to that effect. If thats not on your orders it will cost anywherefrom 1000-1500 dollars to ship. This depending on how close you are to the East Coast and a shipping terminal.

Ditto again. My orders had "POV shipment authorized" in my orders.
Autobahn is fun and the long plates fit perfect on the front bumper of a Camaro with the plastic insert removed. :drive::)

How can i get it in my orders?
You should do it at your levy briefing. Best thing is ask your squadleader or PLT SGT to help square you away.

I was a re-class before I came to Germany and most of the "new privates" that came with me had POV authorized to ship on thier orders. However when I talked to American Auto Logistics they said you have a window of days you can have it shippid from your report date. I think it was 30 days from when you reported, don't quote me on it. Although since the new privates are "new", they never read the whole thing of orders so some in my unit are shit out of luck.
Read your orders carefully!
Sux,
I am down the road from you in Ktown.

I'll be headed to Germany come March '10. I'll be bringing my SS, but will be looking for a DD when I get there.
Anyone here in 12th CM or on the same installation as them?
Kidreno sounds like you are going to Schweinfurt.

I had a question about bringing over my Camaro. I am a civilian right now and will be trying to get a job in Stuttgart sometime in 2011. Does the car have to meet any requirements? ie smog safety that kind of thing?

I would be going to MARFOREUR. i was wondering what restrictions or requirements there are to have my car there in Germany and to get it on base. i can barely pass a smog now, by the time i would leave for Germany there is no way i will be able to.

LOL. That road (big *ucking hill) from the main gate is terrible to walk up. Getting a ride from a friend was awesome, even if it was in a Smart car.
