My other car is a 2009 G8GT with premium and sport packages, sunroof and two tone leather. I traded an 08 Malibu LTZ for it and I miss lots of goodies that the G8 doesn't have like the premium radio, power dimming mirrors, steering mounted paddle shifters and the heated mirrors. But that all is forgotten when I stomp on the 6L RWD.

Not mine but I love this picture.

I thought the car was much too quiet from stock so I had the stock mufflers replaced with stainless steel pipes. This is not the best video out there but you get the point.

Great buy, I really like the pic of it with your special edition WS6!

I also really like the way it sounds with the straight pipes. I think I may do that with mine until I decide to spend the money for a full exhaust.

Thanks, I got the idea from the SLP website. They want $399.99 for a set of pipes and some nice tips. I got my local exhaust shop to fab the pipes for $80.00. Below is a link to the SLP product and their video on youtube.

The best part is that you can take off the stock mufflers yourself and then see if you like the sound before you even spend any money on it. In the pictures here you can see how it only takes a couple of bolts to remove the mufflers.

That's awesome! I think next weekend I might just take my mufflers off and see how it sounds. Thanks for the info!

No prob, hope you like it. There is a bit of drone so if you try them out I'd suggest doing a bit of driving both in town and in the highway. Good thing is if you don't like it its easy to go back to stock.

I took your advice and pulled my axlebacks off today. I think it definitely sounds better from outside the car, but you're right that it does drone inside, and sounds much more muffled than from the outside. I'm wondering if the car not having tailpipes that exit behind the car this way makes it drone more. Did you try it this way first and if so, did the tailpipes help the drone at all?

Also, did you have totally new pipes and everything fabbed up or did you reuse the stock tips, flanges or hangers?

I'm gonna say that the jury is still out on weather I'm gonna try to have something made or buy a kit that is available.

Thanks!

I never tried them with out the pipes put in. I had the whole thing fabbed up so that my stock mufflers would stay intact. I think once you put the pipe all the way to the bumper the noise will be less but not completely gone.

I know that guys over at GRRRR8.net have lined up their trunk with dynamat and it helps some.

Is this your daily driver or just a week end car? I hardly drive mine but my family doesn't mind the noise. I have two girls (6 and 3yrs old) and they don't seem to mind, I think you won't even notice after a few days.

Hope this helps, good thing is you can go back to stock in a few minutes.

Thanks, the only thing I'll do to it is tint the windows and put in DVD headrests from my old Malibu.

Yeah, I'll probably talk to an exhaust shop and price it out. What did you go with for tips?

I think once I have some real money to spend on the car I might look into a header back system using the stock axle back exhaust. I love the look of the stock tips, and I'm sure the headers are where any real gain comes from. I'm just wondering how it would sound.
