Pontiac G8 2008-2009 - Cutouts on Stock Exhaust?

Is it safe to put cutouts on a stock G8 with stock exhaust. Planning on having a baby soon and dont want the aftermarket sound 24/7. We want the quit exhaust for everyday use and some noise every now and then. Will it throw code and/or void our warranty? Ive heard its not good and will ruin the engine is this true? Any info will be appreciated. Thinking about the DMH dual cutouts.

i would assume it's safe as people do it all the time with f-bodies, usually after the catalytic converter
