Well I will tell you this, it was no walk in the park for my first time doing this.
we started working on it at 11am sunday morning and and stoped at 12am (well the BEER didnt help eathier lol). got up at 9am started working on it at 10:30 and finished at 9pm. we pulled the rockers off and then started to pull the push rods out and, BLAMMM found the culpret of the whole problem!!! Not one but 5 rods were bent and you can see in the pics for yourself. I dont know how it didnt throw a rod. So I called all around and could not find any. I called chris and he said to call Tom wongs. Called him and he sold me a set of his, looks like hardly used TSP Cromemoloy harden pushrods for 50$, I thought that was a good deal since they are 110 for the set. we got everything back to gethere and started it up and i just about craped my pants! it was knocking! so now im thinking we have to tare it down and replace the rockers. se we were about to leave and go for a test drive and my Buddy KC was like, it might be a exhaust leak. He got out, I poped the hood and BLAMMM! It was gone and hasent returned yet.. Weird stuff... I will post pics on this thread. Just got to drive it a couple of hundred mile and then drive it hard..:)

Damn! What bent the rods? Any Ideas? Did you measure required pushrod length? Looks like no fun doing all that work under the hood!

The knocking you heard at start-up was probably a lifter that had bled down. Sometimes it takes a little bit to pump them back up once they've been removed for a while. Usually helps to submerge them in oil and actuate them a few times....let them sit while you install the heads..then install them near the end.

Nice job though! How's it running now?

Thanks man.:) bent rods were probably from me racing and going from 3rd shifting into 4th and pop the clutch and it was in 2nd. Did that three times. And I think u are right about the lifters, just need to get oil threw them. But it sure did take a long time for them to get going in them. It runs like a dream I want to just start railing it, but can't do it yet.:)

On a top-end only swap, you should be able to nail it pretty-much once the car is really good and warmed up. :drive: It's not the same as needing to break in rings/bearings/cam. You should be good to go....but it never hurts to play it safe.

I got on it this morning and she pulls pretty good now, but still a little iffy on doing that right now since it is my DD.:) thanks mike I'm happy right now all I need to do is get some new rockers. Or what I really need to do is get a work car. Lol

Yes AMAZING!! Lol. Thanks bro. I've gotten her to about 5500 RPM and dn it's good to be back.:):) tell you this who ever does this, make sure you have new rockers, pushrods, and springs. Cause if you do what I did, then you have to open it up and take the springs out and put new rockers when I do a cam swap.
