the 60 foot time for the 14.3 was a 2.234 and for the 14.4 was 2.257 and help?

you will be in the 13's if you get that 60' down to a 2.0. I've run a 1.96 60' with the stock 19" potenza's for reference. Sounds like it was a hot and humid which also hurt your times.

dude were so low down here damn near sea level. so what would get my 60 foot time better would the vararam intake help that? cause ima wait to get a tune.

definetly power brake as much as you can withoutout spinning. this should should get you to a 2.0 without any money.

Depends on the car. Stock G8's seem to like being nailed off idle as when you try to stall them, the TQ management is very intrusive.

My best 60' on stock 18s with RSAs is 1.94. Loaded to 1k with a 1/4 tank or less gas.
That was with a DA around 1800

my 1.98 was done launching off idle...stock 19's at 34psi

My best 60' was 2.216 - 1/8 8.8 - I havent tried on Idle I will try that next. 60' ft on
G8's are usually bad - I've seen some guys do a 60' 2.+ and get 12's on the 1/4 mile?? weird!! The numbers on these 4 door monsters are weird it all depends on your mods.
1/8 mile tracks do these cars no justice unless you have gears/converter/street slicks.

aite well thanks guys i guess i will jus play with it this friday at the track i jus dont understand why i would run a 14.3 when i have already put the full corsa exhaust on it that comes with the x pipe and stuff i jus dont know why i am not in the thirteens.

i suspect that just as with a GTO a catback isn't doing anything for you and is just an expensive sound mod until you get a lot higher up in HP. get a tune and on a cooler night you'll be in the 13s

sorry i just firgured that just about all cars launch better if you power brake a bit. try a few different things out youll find the right thing and be set.

Yeah, I've heard that the caback doesn't do much performance wise on a stock car. I'm probably going to do headers back to the axleback pipes and leave thse stock. I want the performance and a good sound, but not obnoxiously loud.

You would be amazed how much timing is pulled at the starting line. The tune on my G8 made a night and day difference.

I ran my car with stock tune numerous times in hot humid weather in edinburg but it always ran 13.9 or better. After like 5k and a tune it dipped into 13.2x. If your going to the track in edinburg hit me up and i can check it out for u so u can see exactly what's going on with the scanner. I suspect your torque management is holding u back. Try using the paddle shift mode that sometimes helps.

how much does patrick charge for the tune and how much for re tunes? i jus dont get it. isnt this car supposed to run mid to high 13s stock could it be cause i am runnin 87 octane? If i run one tank of 93 to run this weekend would it mess it up if i went back to 87 next time i fill up?

you would probably do a 13.5 with the traction control off. Did you run on Sport mode or Drive.

yea if i run in sport mode where exactly should i shift at?

bone stock and/or a tuned with basic mods CAI exhaust - Drive w/ tc off gives you better results - dont base your self by sport mode having higher RPMs. I thought the same but when I tested Drive vs Sport mode tc off - same day same track w/ 20 mins in between (3times each mode) Drive w/ tc off was 2 tenth faster in the 1/8 mile.

At the same track (edinburg) I ran a 13.2 bone stock on my GXP. I cant wait till patrick gets a hold of it and tunes it to see what it will run. Plus my headers and CAI just came in so this should be a little interesting...

If it's in sports mode it should shift automatically for u. Tune n vararam turn it into a completely different car. Practice also helps.

There are plenty of stock G8s that have run mid 13's .

whats it called when i move the shifter to the right and shift it myself?

When u just move it over to the right it is in sports mode. If u move it to the right n tap it up or down that's manual mode. I would just use sport mode when ur at the track. Just move it to the right and don't tap it up or down. That will leave it in sport mode where it shifts for u.

My fastest times have come on regular Drive T/C off and power braked and launched at 1300rpms. As for me I think its about 2 tenths faster on regular Drive than Sportsmode. It feels stronger because the RPMs are higher but it doesn't do anything if you are stock or has minor mods.

Drop your tire pressure to about 28psi (rear tires only) - regular Drive T/C off & launch at around 1200-1300 rpms - 1/4 tank of gas only

There are many factors that contribute to track times. Probably the most notably factor here, short of elevation, is the barometric pressures of the night. Take note!!

work on that launch a little more and wait for better weather, you should be able to click off a 13.7 or faster....not bad for a stock car. These guys are right though, a good tune will easily knock off another 3-4 tenths. Think about getting an air intake too.
