I went to the strip for the second time ever yesterday and ran a best of 12.57 @ 116. My first time was 3 years ago with the car completely stock. I ran 13.89 then. I'm happy to be in the 12's but I'm sure the car is much faster than that. I really don't know what I'm supposed to do off the line. I reved the motor to 2500rpm and dropped the clutch at the last yellow light. Most of the time it would just spin the tires through 1st gear and hook up in 2nd and take off. On the fastest run I eased into the throttle instead of dumping the clutch and it hooked a little sooner. That run was a 2.0 60ft. time. All the other runs were 2.2 and 2.3. I have nitto drag radials that I dropped the air pressure to around 20 psi. All the suspension/torque arm stuff is stock. Stock 10 bolt with 4.11 gear. Every car I raced would get me off the line but I would catch them down the track. Do you think this is just from inexperience or is there something different I should be doing with the car?
