I've heard all the long hours bull but what else is new i worked 10-12 hr dayd back in the rear all the time. So recruiters out there how do you like recruiting or dislike it?

Yes... It really is.
I was on the trail from aug 07-aug 08. Dallas recruiting BN, Lubbock company.

I hear now that its alot different, after all those suicides at the beggining of last year (there was most suicides in recruiting command, than in combat ops). On monday-wednesday, we worked from 0600-2200. It was pretty shitty. Not really the hours, just the constant work load, and bitching from the station commander. If you were in the office, you literally couldnt sit still without the phone in your hand without getting yelled at.

Supposedly now, they have two shifts. You are garunteed weekends off, where we worked every saturday.

It also really depends on where you go.
BTW, im at Carson also, but deployed now, and no, im not 4id.

:stupid:
Im an Air Force recruiter and really dont like it at all!! There is alot of sh!t they dont tell you about in school then you get out on your own and realize how much other BS you have to put up with. Baby sitting 20 18 year olds and trying to be honest with people after someone else told them some BS that aint true. Just all the little thing start to add up and then you notice your turning gray. I cant wait to get out of this F'ing job. I hope the MC is different then us as far as all of the BS.

I've heard that the possible benefits of being assigned to your hometown are outweighed by the stresses associated with that job.

Thanks for all the input. I did a lil homework before I deployed and did find out after the suicides that it was to get a lil easier. I will take all your input to thought. Thats cool your at carson man and i'm not 4id ither i'm in the 984th mp co but right now i'm attached to a cav unit from 4id. Yes I am framiular with the ASV but supprisionly we don't have any assisned to us we are just using MRAPS (RG31's) and 1151's over here. They are a pain in the ass to get in and out of so i'm fine with what we got. Thanks again all

John,
The hometown part is bullshit. I volunteered when i was a SPC for the CPL program. They just about garunteed me hometome. im pretty sure it even says it on the website ( www.usarec.army.mil)

Anywho, i requested Dallas BN, Fort worth CO. Well, i got Dallas BN alright, but alll the way in fucking Lubbock, tx. Its 5 hours from home.

There are plenty of benefits. Theres $450 recruiter pay, plus more if you put in 2 per month. And a free phone with 1000 monthly minutes, and unlimited texting, lol. And it is very very easy to meet woman, if you are single. You really get to hone you PR skills, and networking skills.

It was the worst year of my life. My family noticed a sudden and dramatic change in me before, during, and after my duty. I was somewhat of an alchohalic. (no idea how to spell it)

I was reliezed to get to carson, and immediatly deploy.

Like anything else your time in recruiting depends on you and there are trade offs.

For Army recruiting

Pros:
Choose from 9 battalions ( I got my #2 choice, 2 hrs from home.. not bad )
$450 a month recruiting pay ( for living on the economy...not head hunting)
Home every night ( some later than others but, not the old 22:00 days)
Ability to attend family events / emergencies
A break from deploying
If you are good it's not hard at all to find people who want to join

Cons:
As with every job it has it's fair share of bulls$%t
3 years out of your MOS ( could be a pro though)
Yeah....if you get a crappy area it could suck.
If you are not a "admin" type it can suck...(tons of paperwork with lots of attention to detail

I could go on for days but, you get the idea...me personally...I'm a hands on combat arms guy. I'm not a huge fan of pushing pencils but, I can do it well. I didn't choose to come out on recruiting however, it hasn't been all bad. I have one more year left and I plan to try to split the difference and go back to the operational Army and try out retention.
Just my opinion.:chug:
