12 Second Club - hit 12s on my second past ever!

went to musclepalooza at englistown last weekend and hit 12s on my second pass. my first pass i did a 13.042 at 105. small burnout and launched it at 1500 and backed off right before the line(got a lil nervous i wasnt gonna break in time lol) second run i ran a 12.5 at 115. bigger burnout and launched at 2 grand this time. hooked pretty good with the mickeys. my mods are in sig. it was only my second pass ever bc i am 17. do u think there is more in the car? what else should i do to get it faster if possible?

what would u guys launch at with your 10bolt and mickeys? i was scared for the 10bolt so launched easy but what are you guys launching at that your running faster with less mods? going to the track next week and wanna improve. any tips would be great. thanks

Your gonna have to get a feel for your car and see where you should launch it alot of trial and error. And your car should have more in it cause as JeaneZ28 said thats about right for a bolt on ls1 f-body.

As for the 10 bolt, I have seen some take many beatings but sometimes they wont. But thats gonna be part of racing if your gonna make this your hobby your gonna break stuff and spend alot of money:D

thanks. the first pass with a 1500 launch it was a 2.1 and second pass with a 2000 launch it was 2.054. so im guessing every run just increase by a little bit more on the launch and see how well the rear is.

that should be a low, low 12... lower that 60' time and you'll be there. I got 3.73 gears in my lt1 and my 60' times are 1.93, try launching at about 2,500 and lower your tire pressure to about 20-22lbs.

Yeah the majority of shaving time for you is going to be learning what your car likes, and can handle. Only way to find out where the limit is at is to push the car there. Anyhow best of luck and just figure soon you will be low 12's and with more mods low 11's.

Judging by what your 60' times are you have ALOT more left in it. Just learn the car and try to get it to leave straight and without bogging. Remember spinning isn't winning either. And if you feel it wheel-hop.... LET OUT! Thats the fastest way to trash a 10 bolt. Ask me how I know :devil:

Also keep playing with your rpm and launching techniques and keep lowering your tire pressure by 1-2 lbs til the car leaves hard.

You may want to try slipping the clutch a little out of the hole and then let it start moving and then give it hell. This has helped people out in some cases.
Evey car is different though. Some cars just like 6000 rpm clutch dumps and they go like a MOFO!

I have a smaller cam then you, same M/T ET Street DRs you are using, stock 10 bolt with stock 3.42s and i went 11.8 @ 119
