Dyno & Bench Racing Forum - another lame lq4 thread (in rx7 though! :D)

Hey guys, just bought an LQ4 swapped FC rx7 (87)

4l60e with the corvette stator, "the beast" shift kit and a 2200 stall...

Car is a turbo 2 with the sweet IRS LSD differential and 4.10s..

The engine has an ls6 intake and injectors.. 28 lb injectors? I think ls6 tbody..

2.5 inch exhaust with an x pipe and flowmasters (super 40s I think..)

Anyhow, I'm wondering since I dont' think I can run headers with this setup (they only seem to make headers for t56 cars) and with a smaller stall....

I wonder what kind of power I'm looking at with a tune?

**Edit, The car is running on 1998 camaro ls1 electronics.. I assume with the auto computer, this thing is huge! haha...

btw I have the hptuners vcmi or whatever it's called... the VATS, 2nd set of o2's are disabled and a bunch of other stuff.. )

The car is pretty damn fast at the moment, obviously, it's so light, LOL...

A friend has a medium sized cam but I'm wondering if I should upgrade the convertor before upgrading the cam or anything else..

Seems that everyone says 9.4:1 is a brutal compression ratio, what's this thing like with say 91 octane? is it safe around 10.5:1 or so?

How can I tell which TBODY and MAF I have? Are these limiting factors?

Any advice would be great, looking for the experts to chew me to bits, I searched quite a bit but can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

-Dale

u wont find any info about this over here.
but the lq4 is plenty powerful even with 9.4:1 scr. if your on stock cam, it will run a lil better with 89 octane. before u upgrade to cam, mill the heads for more compression or those big cams will lose power and tq under 4k rpm
if you stay on the stock compression ratio.
a better matched tq conv. like a 4k will wake up the car even more
mill the heads, thinner gasket, with ls6 cam, 4k stall, it will make for a night and day difference in acceleration, and the engine will be over 400bhp even with stock exhaust manifolds.

wow 4k rpm!?!?!? CRAZY ... i think the first step is going to be some sticky tires i blow the tires completely away at the moment from a stand still or if i dare put it up on the convertor at a stop LOL

thanks man, you're a life saver.. .i'll check tha tout
