Hi I have a World crate motor 454 sbc it makes 600 hp @6400 and 575 tq @ 4200. The heads are Motown lite 220s they have 2.125 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust they said there was some work done to the heads from World to make the HP. They didn't say what. It has a Motown intake with a 1050 dominator. The cam is a Crane cam 536 in 554 e , 252/260 @ .050 cl is 112 solid flat tappet.
My questions are
I'm going to run a Fast XFI with a Fast 4150 4brl tb. I have two manifolds I have the Motown 4500 series manifold its not set up for EFI . I also have an Edelbrock 29875 efi Victor manifold . Which will give me the most hp? I don't want to lose any hp from the swap. Am I better off keeping the Motown and set it up for EFI or spend the money and have some work done to the Victor?
In the future I am thinking of going to a solid roller . World puts one in their new 454 crate motors. They said my motor is setup so it will fit with no valve to piston lift issues. It would be checked to be sure before running it. Thier new heads have bigger ports 230 but smaller valves. 2.08. would this cam give me much extra power using my same heads with the right springs? The cam is a Comp Cams is 576 in/ 582e 248/254 @ .050 on 110 cl would there be much of a gain or would it be wasted by going too high in the rpm. It will be mostly a street motor . But I love hp
Its going in 69 Camaro with a 6 spd and a fab 9 not sure on ratio yet with a 4 link. and 345 rear tires. Thanks Wayne

im surprised its a flat tappet. a solid or hydraulic roller would be a better choice for longevity. if it were me...id specsomething out with a lil less duration and a lil more lift. id go with a 110 or 108 lsa too, and a 106 ICL with it. with the large inches and the flow of the ML 220s you can do a lot to go bigger and improve powerband. it just depends on how you want to drive it. small high revving powerband for all out race? or wide low revving for streetabilty? or in between?

I think the street friendly would be better . Like I said mostly street driven. The cam would be later. The engine has not even been installed in the car . Its still having the body done. Now I have to figure which intake is better to not loose any power. The EFI 4150 Victor or the Motown 4500 non EFI that came with the engine. Which I would convert to EFI. I like the idea of keeping it all
World. I have a Fast 4150 tb to use. Thanks keep the opinion coming.

I would use a larger cam remember you have a BIG small block.

More lift and leave duration about the same. Do you have the dyno sheets for this motor?
Id like to see the torque curve on paper before i could really say on the cam.You said it makes 600@ 6400, what does it make at 3400,4400? it will surely spend more time near 2400 -4400 than it will at 6400.

Swap to a cam with the same specs but solid roller and go with 1.6 roller rockers. Could net from 25-50 more HP.

I only have some printed numbers no graph it makes 426 hp and 559 tq at 4000. Thats where the dyno started.

Watch where you go, people finding you did that to a numbers matching car might get you killed:jest:

I hear you on that, it was a hard decision. When you come to forums like this its hard not to do it when you love fast cars.

Cannot lie, i would have sold it for what it was worth and bought a non numbers matching ride.
