Well good news...it's not so bad. I'm applying for Collector registration here in NJ. The state needs a letter certifying the car as "rare" from a club or the manufacturer.

Well, I sent a request to Pontiac via their website last night, and have already received an answer (go figure? that was quick);)

According to the very nice woman on the phone, all they need is the VIN and the current mileage. They will send you a letter of authenticity stating the vehicle is out of production and was limited.

The number she supplied me with is: 1-866-790-5700 ext. 22864

It takes a few days to mail out...but overall, that was easy.

Good luck!

Thanks for posting that information. NJ is a unrelenting PITA.

Was the phone contact a GM contact or Pontiac only?

it doesnt work. ive been through it several times myself, talking to several different people at GM. the first letter i got only stated the VIN and that i own the car. nothing like i asked for. i then called again, talked to a new person, and specifically listed all the criteria needed for collectors insurance. she said itll take yet another 3-4 weeks, but said it STILL wasnt what i asked for. they wont say that ASC converted the WS6s, wont give a total breakdown, other then black TAs. not even a stick/manual breakdown.

dont get your hopes up. chances are it wont be what you need.
