I have a combo mig/flux core maching. I was wondering if you take off the tip can it be used as a body stud welder for dents? LIke put the stud inside the tip then put against the metal and strike the arc? Isn't that pretty much what a stud welder is like a flux core machine?

No, the machine you have is probably like what I use at the house, the way the machine works is that it charges the wire, which causes the arc at the contact point, which is grounded, the wire is continuously feeding, so when you put the stud in the tip,(if it would even go) the wire would touch the tip and probably push it out, but if not, even worse I believe it would probably ground the stud out and then weld the the end of the wire to the stud inside the gun. If you were lucky it would push the welded crap out, you would put the stud in again and again getting the same result.
Just tack a bolt to the damaged area, then pull the dent, then cut the bolt off, and smooth.

I would not put wire in the maching, which brings me to next question is the wire whats charged in a mig or the tip?

^^^ the wire is. but since it touches the tip it will cause a spark.
