I'm hoping to avoid driving out there to drop my car off.... I usually work nights and it makes it a PITA to go out there. There doesn't seem to be a lot of modded cars running around Clovis either. A few bolt ons here and there, but nothing else. I'm trying to get a cam installed (don't have the time to learn how to do it on my own) when I get back and I'd like someone local, but I just can't find somewhere known to do good work.

TSP in lubbock (wolfforth) and there's a handful of shops out here in amarillo that can do it, other than that there's really not anyone in clovis, might try new mexico engine, he's a cool guy, but don't know how experienced he is on the LSX motors.

Yeah pretty much like everyone said....TSP is your best bet. I used to take my car there for tuning when I as stationed at Dyess.

There are a couple of quick cars out here, but like you said, not much of a selection. As far as shops, I'd recommend Dream Chasers in Amarillo myself. My roommate's car (CABRO) just got tuned there and it's running quite well. :D

There is a couple places in town I'd trust doing that. There is my mechanic who works on my car when I give up or just don't have time and there is also a guy who does LSX swaps in everything here! He builds his own harnesses and rebuilds so he knows them pretty well. Then there is maybe a couple other people I know. I actually did my own cam swap and helped 2 other LSX owners do theirs. One was actually "Endlesssummer" above. He did the majority of the work and I showed up when he was buttoning it up.

Thanks for the info guys.

porksoda - do you know the name of the place that does the LSX swaps? I'd like to learn to do a cam swap, but even stateside I work 12 hrs a day 5 days a week, and I'm usually on nights to boot (don't want to go to days just for the weekend, takes a lot out of me).

I used to have the guys number but I got a new phone and lost it. I can tell you it is on the 200 block of Georgia Street though. It is right next to M&M Electric Motor Repair. If your coming in from the base you are on 7th Street. Take it all the way East until you hit Georgia St. which is across from the golf course. From there just take Georgia all the way down to the 200 block and you will see it.

Hey man, Solid-Tech in ABQ is good as well as TSP... Sean, the owner is a vendor for TSP, and a great dude, real easy to work with... He's working on my car right now. I can vouch for 'em, when I'm stateside, I pretty much spend all day there lol. My roommate is the only other one who works there, but he's a badass too. Worth the drive.

Thanks for the offer, and this would be my first choice... but I don't have the tools and I will never have the time (my squadron is 24/7 and it's amazing they don't try to make us live in the squadron as it is). I'm going to look into the LSX guy in Clovis or TSP when I get back I think. Thanks for the heads up about the guy in ABQ, but I really don't want to go that far than have to drive back out there to pick it up again.

Did Cannon close down the auto hobby shop? I used to live there on the weekends!

It hasn't closed, but last I heard they don't let people do "major" auto work anymore. Basically if it isn't changing fluids, they probably won't let you do it. And there's still the time problem... I work 60 hours a week state-side and like to be home with my wife and dogs when I'm not working. And being off base for a little while is always nice.

That's sad. I did many motor swaps, tranny swaps, and axle builds while there. Here at Rucker, the hobby shop isn't as bright and nice, but they just invested in a new paint booth and body work tools. I recently heard that the CC at Sheppard is talking about closing down the auto shop all together because it isn't profitable. Its sad when leadership cares so little for the soldiers that they think that "Morale Welfare and Recreation"/ Services should be profitable. "Sorry airman, too bad you don't make enough money for us to keep this open for you":bang:

Well you can't really go wrong with TSP. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I'm going to go with a monster clutch, ordering it shortly before I come home.

I've been driving my 02 NBM WS6, but my daily driver is a 01 Black Grand Cherokee that I finally got fixed.
