Ultimately its the car dealers that should have more sense, since they could have gave the coustomer the $4500 and still made a profit off the trade. The program was rushed and a ultimate fail IMO. Yeah, they got a lot of trash off the roads, but what a waste!

Hopefully that GNX was just a hulk with some junkyard engine to get the thing to run. I assume this stats come from checking VIN numbers, and the VIN said it was a GNX but it in reality was a junker.
If not, anyone up for a lynch mob?

Kinda gotta wonder if some shady shit didn't happen with a few of those cars. There's no way in hell that nobody involved with those trades didn't know what was they were dealing with.
I don't care how bad of shape that GN GNX was in. One of the rules were that it had to be in running condition and I can guarantee you that it was worth more than $4500 in that case. I can't believe nobody jumped in and said, "Hey, listen, I'll give you 10k for it if you just sell it to me instead."
It just gets me all fueled up reading stuff like this...

Not to start a fight here but you only made the problem worse by quoting it. Quoting it means that although the post was deleted it stays alive in your post.

Anyone know the real reason why some of these were turned in as clunkers? I mean some of them obviously had more value in being sold privately...just curious as to if anyone has a valid explanation?

man people are stupid, even with the economy being bad im sure you could have turned a quick sale with alot of those cars and probably could have got alot more than what the program was offering

Honestly, it's got to be some bullshit to get people rhiled up. Why would someone turn in a 3 year old 350Z or a Roush F-150 that costs god knows how much. A Bentley? I'm calling bullshit.

I'll admit, it hurt to read that a GNX met its demise when its piece of shit owner just said, "Bah, I don't even care enough about this car to list it for sale. Off to the crusher for you."
Maybe it was a total wreck with a salvage title.

I don't know, Even a GNX salvage title is worth more than $4,500. Part of the rules were that it had to be insured/titled for the past year and be driveable so it would have have had to have been in decent shape...

True that it does seem to be a waste at first but who is to say what the real condition of the cars was? Many of them could of been missing half the floor board for all we know....
