I plan on hitting the track in spring. I'll be getting 3.73 gears, underdrive pulley, a LS6 intake and a dyno tune before I go. I have a ported tb by silverghost on the way!
Could I hit 12's with my mods in sig plus the new mods?
I have never drove down the track in any car. I know my first few runs will be bad. I do street race alot though.

I'm turning 12.5 @ 108 with the mods in my sig...if you can hook up you'll be close.

Yes we went 12.9 at 108 with similar mods. Just did 12.2 with a vig 3600 converter. By far the best bang for buck single mod that will get you deep into the 12s would be a converter.

Back in 2006 I went 13.2 @ 105 with just a catback and a lid. I got some Nitto's now and I'm hoping to break into the 12's when I hit the track soon. So I don't see why you can't hit the 12's with those mods if ya can hook.

Converter (3600+ IMO) and tires.... Don't waste your time with the small shit that knocks off 1 tenth.. Converter will knock off .5 and the tires will pick you up another .2 or so.

I plan on a stall someday. Just need my job to pick back up. Very slow at work these days.
Thanks for the info guys. I might have to get some better tires while I'm at it.

I would stop wasting money on small things.. the FIRST mod you should do to an A4 is stall and then tires.

It is by far the best mod you can do. No other mod will net you better times.

Fine, you talked me into it! Who sells a good stall? I'm new to the LS1. So any info is great. I built my turbo gp and it had a 3k stall. Loved it. Would spool up(15 psi) sitting at the line!!! Then by by Honda. lol

I personally like VIG.. Some other good brands are Yank and Circle D and I love the PTC that is in my car now.

You do NOT want to go cheap on the converter.. It will make or break an entire setup.

I would look into a 3600-4000.. The difference between DD a 3200 and a 4000 is minimal. Once it locks up it is like stock and most converters lock around 40-50mph.. The pickup is a difference of around 2-300RPMs depending on the converter. Also pay attention to the STR on the converter. I have a 2.4STR on mine and it hits hard out of the hole, I cut consistent 1.50-1.52 sixty times.

Expect to pay around 400-650$.. BUT! you can always find good deals.. I paid 125$ for my last 4000VIG that needed to be rebuilt. I paid 150$ to have it rebuilt and it was a KILLER converter.. Would have sold for around 600$.
Get a converter and you have to have sticky tires or !traction mod will be added!

I've had my eyes peeled for awhile now. Been looking for a deal on one in the classifeids. That's probably the last mod for this year and until I can get a new place. Need to get that first. I REALLY want a stall bad. Sorry for the hijack!

I have run a best of 13.09 @ 107 with the mods in my sig, I want to hit the 12s before I do a cam, headers and a TC. So, with the cooler weather coming I hope to get into the 12s as is.

No question.. 3600+ converter.

I have a Yank 4000 converter I'll let go for $300 + shipping.

I went 13.00X aggravatingly enough :bang: several times with just intake, throttle body, exhaust, 4.10's and nittos...but im like a foot above sea level here in florida. U should be good as long as you get traction. I have a cam, stall, LT's and true duals now and I'm in the bottom 12's...almost 11's but the stall is amazing! You'll be making the standard shift guys look bad at the track, trust me.

1 piece of advice: whatever stall speed u think u want get a bigger 1!!!!! I got a 3200 circle D and wish I would have gone with a 4k.

Mods in sig. Went 12.22 @ 109.98 with a 1.60 60'. This was at Rt. 66 opening day this year. The weather sucked, it spun slightly, and we were still tuning it. With a good day and a bit more time, 60' should be in the 1.5's and a 12.1X should be easy. Weight reduction includes front bumper support, ac, ps, insulation, backseat, spare, speakers removed from the back of the seats to the rear, fog lights removed and used as ram air ducts for my home made setup.

I go to the track twice a week with my 99 Formula A4.

Just putting headers on put me to 12.98 (w/ MT drag radials of course). These would be the first things that anyone does, sticky tires are a must.

Put some 3.73s in, and got 2 more tenths. Got my car tuned and gained 2 more tenths to put my at 12.43 @ 112

I put in a 2800 Stall since I plan on doing heads and cam pretty soon, and wanted something a little bigger than stock, and ran 12. 28 @ 112 (w/ just headers, gears, stall). Car drives like stock and gets 25mpg

A friend of mine has a very very similar TA, but with a 4000 converter. We race within 1 minute of eachother, I went 12.366 @ 111, he went 12.367 @ 107(?)

So pretty much the stall didnt help him out any more than my 2800. He was getting like 1.67 60's and I was getting 1.75 and I had way more mph than he did. He did pull the wheel a little which is cool, but if you dont plan on spending 2500 on a 12 bolt, a 2800-3200 stall is more than enough. I also like having more mph at the other end since I bracket race and have the advantage against other cars running 12s.

good luck

My car has 56k on it and I was going to wait until my tranny went out before I bought a high dollar TC. The last thing I want to have happen is the new TC to be taken out when the stock tranny goes.

I did a P&P TB and a hypertech tune w/ M/T ET Streets and went 12.87@ 107 but i would say headers and a stall first.

I've got a `98 with 2.73 gear. With a lid, catback and tires I ran a 13.6X. After putting in a 3600 Yank converter, QA1 shocks and lower control arms/relocation brackets I ran a 12.84 with a 1.81 60'. It's stock tune and 2.73 gear. Traps were 105 mph.
