Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - 14-71 bbc distributor clearance

My 8-71 blower can't seem to make more than 12 lbs boost. Probably because it is 40 years old and the case & rotors are pretty rough.

I am installing a little bigger cam, and expect it to drop the boost some more, my motor is only 7.95:1 c.r. and it is street driven, so teflon strips aren't a good option, so I want to try a bigger blower.

Anyone have a 14-71's on a BBC, with a conventional distributor (MSD small cap with vac advance).

I don't think you'll be able to get the distributor in the standard location with a 14-71. You'll have to go to a front drive.

Call up The Blow Shop ( http://www.theblowershop.com/ )and ask them, they might be able to rebuild that 8-71 and get some more boost for you without having to go to the 14-71. But if not then they will defiantly be able to let you know what you have to do with a distributor and a 14-71.
