I went to the local 1/8 mile track when I raced I was consistently running 9.350 @ 75.1 mph. My reaction time was .113 and 60ft was 2.209.Am I doing something wrong I thought my car would be a little bit faster than that. Is there any way of finding out based on these times how fast it would run in the 1/4 mile? Let me know if I'm doing something wrong .Thank you

Mid to high 13's is what you would run in the 1/4th going off of your times there. Your car is faster you just have to get the 60' down. Your MPH is also low but your spinning off the line is taking away valuable ground you could be using to go faster rather than spinning. (I do not care to get into an argument with anyone about the myth that spinning raises your mph)
Your reaction time has nothing to do with your time. You could sit there for 5 minutes after the light turns green and your time will not change. It doesn't change until you trip the beams going forward.
Sorry I don't have any good advice for you driving wise. I've always had a manual and have never owned an automatic. Well I did own one, it was a 1990 5.0 LX hatch but I had done a 5 speed swap within owning it a month.

Best advice I can give you is this...

Do not get your spirit down and keep trying. You will never be perfect at it and the only way to get better is practice. Try to buddy up with someone at the track that has a F-body and see if they can give you tips. Most everyone running their cars at the track will be friendly and more than willing to help you out. Or see if you can find someone on here that goes to the same track you do.

your mph looks a bit low..you may have a motor issue or maybe even trans. My bolt ons 95 neon ran 70 mph in the 1/8th for reference.

I have an o2 sensor out. I spin alot off the line at 3/4 throttl.

A 9.35 @ 75mph in the 18/th is approximately a 14.60 @ 93mph in the 1/4 mile, which is absolutely an abomination for a LS1 fbody.

Agreed - there is a lot on the table there. MPH is way low, my LT1 car does about 81-82mph in the 1/8th, I had a '99 V6 GrandAm w/ I/H/E and a tune that did 72-73mph in the 1/8th. You're LS1 car should be a bit beyond what my LT1 car runs. Bringing that 60' time down will help the ET, but you've gotta figure out where the power is going. Are you manual shifting and hitting the limiter at all, or is the car shifting earlier for some reason?

As far as the launch, just keep working at it. Do you know what gears are in the rear? An Auto with tall gears can be tricky to launch, it takes a lot of throttle to get it moving well from a stop, but when you break the threshold of traction they get into major wheelspin pretty easy. Best bet is to footbrake the car up to whatever rpm the converter will hold at about 1/3 throttle, and then roll it in smooth and as quick as it'll take it without spinning.

If you're heating the tires with a burnout - not really needed or beneficial with a street tire, just go around the water box, and give them just a turn or two to clear any foreign objects that could impede your traction (gravel, moisture, ext) and then stage up. Don't worry about the lights too much, or the guy in the next lane, just focus on cutting a good launch.

I have 3.23 and street radials. I do go around the water box and before I stage I give it some gas and get rid of any debris. It's wierd I raced a 09' mustang gt and he left before me and I still caught up to him at the end. Can it be shitty track conditions? I raced at countyline dragway here in Miami.

Maybe he missed a gear...maybe your car is faster....maybe he ran out of gas...maybe he spun....maybe he got a phone call....maybe he had to fart...how the hell are we supose to know??

No. You should be faster in the snow. Poor track prep isn't going to hurt
your car that much.

Agreed - mph is way too low.

You don't have to be such a smart ass.... ASSHOLE^^^^ Does this mean that the new mustang gt runs something around a 16sec 1/4 mile? That's why stopsign is mad. POS mustang owner. 03-04 only cobra or ford worth anything.

Exactly...I'm mad because I'm a pos Mustang owner and the only Ford worth anything is the 03-04 Cobra. You hit the nail on the head! :D

dumb fucking idiot. At least they can do better than a 9.35 at 75 mph :eyes:

Either something is wrong with your car OR, you are trying to shift with your feet.

Definitely something up with the car. I'm guess that the Miami drag strip isn't at a very high elevation. High temps will hurt it, but I doubt that much. For reference my stock A4 1994 TA went 9.0 @ 78 mph on a decent day. I'd give it a tune up and get it on a known dyno and see what's up. If you want to take traction out of the equation then some Nitto drag radials should dead hook on a stock A4 LS1.

Haha, I was worried for a second when I read your first post, Stopsign, and you were being nice...then I read your second post and all was right with the world again

Look Sargent Slobber :sack:, the mustangs reaction time was .146, 60ft: 2.365, trap speed:76.3, elapsed time9.607. So isn't it sad that a LS1 that is running like shit still wooped that fuck out of a NEW POS mustang!! Your a fucking typical mustang owner!! I asked a simple question and you had to fuck shit up. YOUR A FUCKING LOSER!!! :flipbird: FUCK YOU ASSHOLE!!!! :wave-fing Kiss my ass!!:moon:

Damn, way to get all butt hurt. You have no right to be talking shit with your slow ass car. You sound like one dumb ass redneck nascar loving idiot with all that Ford hating BS. You have no place to talk shit until your car is out of the 14's...

I came in here asking a simple question and wind up talking bs. It might have been a bit overboard and I know my car ain't fast. Who the hell is he to talk shit when I'm just trying to get some pointers. If you can help then help. I am no redneck and I don't like nascar. If my car is in the 14's then the other car must be in 15's. right? BTW the issue isn't even with you.

No not necessarily and that doesnt really matter or contribute it anyway to getting pointers on your setup and your time. Like was said up there but maybe in a sarcastic way. He coulda been doing anything in there to make his car slower than yours. Point is your not there to race him, like others said your mph is low and your 60ft is high. I had a few 14 sec passes in my car my first time out. My problem is I couldnt launch the car and 60ft was horrible, went way to hot at first for my worthless street tires. Had to learn to feather it and got mid 13s stock. So be patient and learn to take some joking around or you arent gonna get to far on here...
