Dyno & Bench Racing Forum - Friendly Battle - 04 sti vs 01 ws6

My buddy has a 04 sti that I have consistently shit on since he bought the car :devil:

He keeps doing upgrades to it, dyno tuned, front mount, boost solenoid, etc. but he still can't hang, especially from a roll.

Last time we went to the track it was a shitty, humid day and he ran 13.4 @ 104 and I hit 12.8 @112.

My car is a m6, and has QTP Long Tubes, TSP true duals, underdrive pulley, lid, dyno tuned at 335rwhp on a mustang dyno, and 352 on a dynojet. His car laid down 296awhp.

So a few weeks ago his turbo shit the bed, got a crack on the exhaust housing by the wastegate. he bought a 20g, and I helped him install new injectors and all the supporting crap to run the larger turbo. now he thinks he's gonna shit all over me... is it gonna happen?

so Im def screwed from a dig. I dont wanna launch hard on the stock 10 bolt. the times I ran before was with a 1500 rpm launch lol. 2.0 60 foot. hopefully i can hold my own from a roll...

ya the roll race will be interesting but from a dig i dont think you will catch him.

with his new turbo it will be a damn close race. Tell him, "more RPM, more gas" on his launch! :)

I agree with BA. - hes not launching right if hes doin mid 13's with a stage 2 setup (full exhaust, intake, more boost/tune). with a 20g he'd put up a fight. Good luck!

if I'm remembering right from my DSM days, a 20g is good for more than 360hp. but it has been awhile. i thought they were good to around 400. but still if he doesn't launch it right no matter what he does, it wont matter, he's not making use of his ace in the hole, AWD

Sounds like it should be a badass race either way. I know I pulled on my friend's bone stock 2006 STI with my G8 (both roll and dig runs, but I was playing catch up on the dig run and passed him at about 80-90 mph). Now he's got a stage 2 setup or something and says it should be good for about 40-45 more hp, so he should walk away pretty hard, but it'll be fun.
