Was looking for a 10.9 today. A lot of cars at NYI, it was the final porint race and the fridged nationals event.
Drove the car to the track with the slicks in the back, changed them and drove home :D Like always, cars never been trailored. 1st pass was so happy when I saw the 10.86, had the front shocks tight. Its been yanking them alot more the needed. Think it spun a bit, didn't yank the car that hard. 2step at 6400 But with the spool and summit rear shock I traded form BigKap that car feels slow, but its smooth and stairt now.
Losend up the shocks, But some oil down, sat for like 3.5 hours cleanup. And it was in the 50's so cold. I wanted to drive the car to warm it up the trans was really notchy being ice cold. Ripped off a new best 1.522 but missed 2nd or 3rd:bang:
Waited in TnT line for a while, lined up with my rooamate that went a 11.01 I hes top 3 for stock turbo EVO8s now. Didn't do a good AWD burnout, no water I guess? Cut a good light, 60's hooked, no bog, 10.84
Wanted to get a 10.7 thinking that was top10 maybe cam only list? I remeberd the 10.99 10.75 was reallllly tight. Pulled the paper airfilter., and got in line. It was getting cold and not alot of fast cars. Didn't yank the wheels that hard, so probally had to much wheel speed? Backed up the 10.86.. But the 127.5 is flyin' for what the car is. Same way I drive it everyday, just the wheels. This was though the SLP 2OTL catback even. I thoguth about making another pass but was happy with that and wnated to get going to eat.
I don't think I'm gona drive it to the shootout this weekend. I'l like to trailor it. I want to go all out here in NY anyway, and see what it would run in race mode like alot of the other cars. So I can take the exhust off, interior stuff. The tune on it now is with a 85mm MAF Mike did for a quick inspection tune last month. I want to run no MAFF, and get a SD tune with the open headers, or short tubes off the headers if I need to. I think shawna form STM got some vids too. I'll see.

nice times looks like we both had a good day...what raceweight did you get that car down too i thought i remember a thread you had about all the weight reduction...nice mph my friend 98bluesscamaro ran about the exact same 10.88 at 127 with vind/stock 243s in a m6 with a 1.48 60ft...his raceweight is like 3475 though so pretty heavy...da was -870ft

Weight is the same as its been all year. The car was 3360 with me, on the stock wheels. It went a 11.27 on them last week. The drag wheels save 60-70#s probally? Other canges are the lighter spool over the true trac about 32#s And I added the summit/deotch rear shocks not sure but there a few pounds hevier then the stock rears. maybe 3-5?? So I'd think it was 3250 today.
And it better air. Jason It with probally go 130s on the ported 243s now :)
tread when I put the spool in last week.

I'm not knocking you, those are some bad ass times. But I'm a bit confused, what makes that a "cam only" car, with all that other stuff done? Like I said, this is just for my knowledge, not trying to be a smart ass

Yup, the truetrac with ring gear is really heavy 57.5. I almost couldn't catch it when it came out off the lift last year when I put the 430s in at newera. Then when I pulled it in the garage at my parents on jackstands, it was hard to do lower it to the ground nice on your back. I'll see if I can zoom in on ant pics I took, I weight ther spool on the N20 scale at newera when I put the ring gear on the spool and used the press to put the bearings on it. And wrote with a shapie on the side spool. but off the listed weights is was 32.8#s really.

Talking to the Nashville guys, I guess there's an '01 SOM Z28 running in the 10s, cam only. Sounds like you might have to race him, Johnny!

I'm not sure on my exact weight. I need to weigh it next time I'm at the track. My problem is that I don't want to cut the car up. I want to be able to return it to stock. My weight ruduction list includes.
A/C stuff (Compressor, condensor, accumulator, lines)
AIR/EGR
Stereo (Head unit, amp, speakers)
Steering wheel and airbag (Replaced with MOMO)
Drivers seat (Replaced with a Corbeau)
Pass., rear seats, and belts
Insulation
ABS
TC/Cruise
Front and rear bumper supports
Spare tire/Jack
Spintech muffler w/mufflex tailpipe removed at the track
Billet Streetlites

No offense but the car should be faster than that as it is? I wouldnt spend a bunch of effort/$$$ getting it lighter and work on lining what you have out My junk for example still has all airbags, ABS, all stock interior, rear bumper support etc etc, just have some seat time in it. Went from 11.3s first time out to 10.8x without changing one part

Good job you're flying. I'm always following these post and have always wanted to try it.
I'll be taking a shot at it next year with a Jerico behind it. I'm buying a brand new gm longblock. I'll prolly do a custom cam and give it a shot. Can't wait!

93 link in my sig. I've taken 322 lbs out of my car, still have AC, PS, rear bumper support, stock front seats, carpet, all of the interior panels, dash, stock brakes, wheels, and tires, suspension, etc...
I'm looking at around 2850 lbs with me in it when I get it running. 2680-2700 Eventually when I get everything finished with all of the above interior parts, ac, and PS in the car.

that sounds about my setup. Once you do rollbar, I think its a givin, rear seats, rear belts, and drill the rear brakets off.

thanks tim for the help on what clutch to run. I was thinking it was getting worn already form raing all year getting 1.5s and 6500 on the 2step. I broke the rod on the stock master, so cleaned it out while fixing it. Had some crap at the bottem around the stop, and spring. Cleaned it up, and bench bleed, and its mint pedal agian. Looking to go faster this weekend :)
Don't you have a cam only setup basicly? you have a stock 241s, LS6intake/ unported TB even right?

10-14-2009, 09:33 PM
Yeh it was it was just .020 over bore and only .510 lift cam it had stock 853's unported stock throttle body and ls6 intake my weight was 3250. I'm gonna run a better intake and throttle body and see what it can do with a cam I spec out with a little more lift.
I think I can get down there pretty far ,but 10.20's will be a task. I went 10.78 at 124 with that motor so we'll see.

thanks. its a good track, but nothing like the neg. DA stuff some guys get.
Looking to go faster still. :)
I took the passanger seat, center console, carpet to get the car a little lighter the other night. Still have the door panels (never been off stock doors), side panels (not sure if they come out with the rollbar now haha), radio and that stuff. And took the 20TL off and Ypipe, Put some 16-18 extions with turndowns on, and got a trailor to use. So it hopfully 100#s lighter probally less, it already had some light stuff on it I removed. Don't have time for a SD or better tune but might be up a few HP (10?) with the exhaust, The openY pipe was like 6-7whp peak over the muffler last year on the dyno.
