Very Nice.
I made 419rwhp with headers and that cam through an A4 w/ 10-bolt. It also blew up...

at least one rocker bolt broker and the rocker came loose on top of the head, sounds real bad, I am tearing apart tonight to diagnose. Next plan, in a week or so, is to have 799 heads so I will hope for 420-430 on the same dyno with the only difference is a correctly assembled and functioning engine as well as the 799 heads

i put down 390 on a mustang dyno so i dont think yours is low and mine was on a 10 bolt with my set up on a dyno jet thats 415 easy

It was nice meeting you Brian. I'm sorry you had mechanical issues, but I look forward to seeing your new setup. Just remember to select heads that don't make P to V clearance worse. That MS4 cam is already tight as it is.

Thanks Patrick, you too. The 799 shouldn't make the clearance any worse, correct?
I will be driving back to you in a few weeks, whenever you schedule is free, I hope to have everything buttoned back up by the beginning of next week. So maybe not this weekend but the next I can come down there for a re-tune

#'s are right on par for those mods.
3:42's with an MS4???? Why?

because I have touched the rear end yet...?

Because you have touched the rear end yet?
That doesn't make sense.
The only reason I was asking is because a cam that big in a 346 needs a 4:10+ gear ratio.

sorry, because I havent touched the rear end yet.
The previous owner put the 12 bolt in and kept stock gears

Ahh ok, gotcha. Put some 4:10's in there, it'll feel like a totally different car.

10-14-2009, 01:12 AM
yes sir, plan to do 4.10s and possible swap for lower OD gears to obtain stock hwy mileage. After the heads are on, I know the clutch is going to begging for a swap as well as all the hydraulics, so the rear end gets put on hold.

A broke bolt is not a blown up motor, lol. Felt bad for you when I first read that. Convinient time to upgrade heads. Hmm mabee a little too convinient. :D

I thought it was a lot worse too.
It's a good excuse to keep modding though.
Good luck with the build.

Mine broke a few yella terra rockers with that cam..found out in the install the guys forgot to put the correct seats under the springs, used the factory seats..causing it to coil bind and break shit on the intake side..Everyone one of my partriot springs on the intake were busted bad!! Somethin to look at..my numbers
405/353 on a dynotune(with stock 243 heads) 6 speed/ stock 10bolt..

those numbers with 243 heads...? sound odd to anyone else, or were they low because of the seat issues?

Whoever is capable of making such an idiotic mistake doesn't need to touch a wrench, ever again.

With Stock 243s I thought it was about right, Im looking to get them ported or buy a set of patriot heads..but Iv got a question, my clutch started sliping BAD the day after I got it dynoed on the dyno jet thats the one in the vid. and my hp and tq.. tq mainly have a dip in it from 3600-5000..could this be clutch slipping? It would still peak the same hp right? The guy that did the cam/tuning said a set of heads and a fast 92 would greatly help me..

I see Z06s with this cam putting down around 430+ and they have stock 243 heads, which makes me wonder why your numbers are so low. Something isnt adding up.
Heres the dyno graph of mine

Could numbers be down because of a bad clutch? I still think its about right. Stock air lid can rob power, Full exhaust, Stock MAF...Some cars do better with a ported LS6 over a FAST..
On a dyno jet(reads higher), Location has a lot to do with it also..but best was 424/371 after driving 500 miles and leting it set for 20 min. maybe...IDK my a/f but the guy said they couldnt get any better really. Pulled Timing and tryed adding it and she really didnt change too much.. I think its pretty close..
My turd:
Stock Lid, MAF
42lbs Injectors
FAST 90/90
Stock 243s
Yella Terra 1.7s
Dual Gold Springs
MS4 on a 111
Texas Speed 1 7/8s Longtubes into a Texas Speed ORY
SLP Loudmouth
Stock Tranny/ Stock Clutch(slipping)
Stock Rear

im sorry, i must have misread your first post. i was thinking you were 390. 424 is good for stock 243s. I just got mine retuned with the 799s and it put down 417 with a slipping clutch. Ill make a new thread with graphs and vids tomorrow morning.

the MS4 had nothing to do with the rocker bolt shearing. That was entirely my noob ass. Maybe I should change the title...

Everything that broke on his and on mine was because of install screw ups it sounds like to me..Yes its a aggressive cam but you can go a bit smaller and still have good numbers and sound, and be a bit more streetable..

I agree, a smaller cam can still make great power, and this thing is a bit much on the street, but that doesn't bother me one bit. It gets better and better everyday.
