First off, sorry if this has been posted in other parts of ls1 tech!!! that being said, I want to know if I will have to to change my stock 2002 z28 air box for an oem 2002 ss ram air hood? If i do, where are some sites to get the special air box? Thnx guys!!

Z28 & SS share the same stock air box. Hood or no hood you really need to invest in an aftermarket lid like SLP, MTI, LS1 Motorsports, Whisper, etc. This will give you WAY more power than any hood will.

i kno and im definately getting a lid of some kind. want the hood for more cosmetic reasons than anything but still like it to be ram air whether it gives me 1 hp or nothing at all

If you want a real "Ram Air" hood, the SS hood is not the one to get as the air circles all the way to the back of the hood then runs down the edges back to the front and into the air box. You need to look into the SLP Ultra Z hood. Straight shot into the air filter. Another hood that'd only be for asthetic value is the Sunoco hood. Do a search on here for pics.

Both of these hoods would be a better buy for a Z28 than an SS hood as an SS on a Z tends to make it look like you're trying to clone an SS. Plus for every 30 SS hoods you see, you might see 1 Ultra Z or Sunoco hood on a 98-02.
