Cadillac CTS-V 2004-2009 - Sunroof gremlins acting up ...fixes???

I've had this issue before and it has come back.

With the sunroof control switch in the fully closed position, the sunroof mechanism will activate on it's own and make minor open/close movements. It goes away once I rotate the switch from the fully closed to open position and return to the fully closed position.

It seems that there is some dirt / dust contamination in the actual switch. I've read in a thread a while back that the fix was to disassemble the panel to get to the switch and hit is with some electronic contact cleaner. I'm wondering if this is the proper fix and what is the best method in getting to the switch while avoiding any damage to the tabs that hold up the panel in the headliner.

Thanks.

Dunno if thats the proper fix or not, I would like to know, mine has been doing the same thing recently. But the tabs holding the panel to the roof are pretty strong, shove your fingers in there and pull down. The wire for the on* mic is very short so be careful.

Thanks Nikon for the heads-up about the mic. I'll try and carefully disassemble it today / this weekend and let you know of the results.

the motor huh? Problem is with my car it's so random they'd never fix anything.

mine did the same thing! i softly pushed the knob back up into its designated spot and problem stopped... i found that the knob was just starting to slide out on its own... no issues since...

Sounds like it's time for a switch. Mine was really sensitive like that (hard to get it to close properly) and a new switch fixed it. Getting the roof console to stay in place after it has been pulled down takes a bit of practice.
