Hey guys if there is anyone at the track with a spare 'wrap around' 5 pt harness I really could use it. PM me tonight. I didn't get through tech for the 10.0 index class. My car is here and I am ready to go minus the harness, ANYONE? It must be a 'wrap around'.

I am parked at the LSX grass pits towards the entrance to Memphis Motorsports Park where you pay to get in.

Appreciate anyone who can help. My own error, but I want to race while I am here. I have looked everywhere in Memphis, can't find one. Checked all of manufacturers row too. I was only able to locate a 'bolt in'.

I am parked at the LSX grass pits towards the entrance to Memphis Motorsports Park where you pay to get in. We have a white V-nose enclosed trailer hooked to a Pewter 2500 3/4 ton GM truck and an aluminum open trailer hooked to a 3/4 ton Chevy truck parked side by side.

Appreciate anyone who can help. My own error, but I want to race while I am here. I have looked everywhere in Memphis, can't find one. Checked all of manufacturers row too. I was only able to locate a 'bolt in'.

Most individual 'bolt in' harnesses are also wrap around, you just take the plates off and wrap them around the bar instead of the bolt on plate. The Y type wraparound harnesses are no longer NHRA legal and you wont find those anywhere.

If it gets to tomorrow at the track and haven't found anything, remember about someone with a harness for there passenger side to borrow. That's what I did last year, thanks stry ;) I put the wolfe boltin 6pt in the day before we left ny and I forgot about a harness. For the sub belt, find madman, or the burkhet guys and see if they brought any. They both make nice brackets that bolt on the front seat studs for like $35 4130/tig and PC black. I was about ti drill a 1/2 hole thu my carpet and floor. to bolt the tab on. glad I didnt do that.

I didn't know that, I thought most were sown on there. Thanks for the info.

Yes, Burkhart does have the bar that goes across the seat mounts for the crouch strap. I stumbled across this hanging on Burkhart's display today while trying to come up with a harness in manufacturer's row. I didn't want to drill the floor hastily either at the last moment, so I started looking for a 'wrap around' type. I have never used one either. My cages always had tabs on them.

Funny thing, I was thinking about something similar to what Burkhart did earlier in the week, but didn't think it would be legal. And then when I took an old 'tab' type harness I had laying around and went to install it, the shoulder harness didn't fit me worth a crap over the factory high back bucket seat. So I said screw it, there is no way that will be legal. I figured I would see if they would let me slide. Bad idea. :argh:
That answer is a NO. They told me at tech, even though the harness wouldn't fit right without a hole in the seat, such as with a race seat, that is was legal.

It was busy week and a last minute decision to come, so I didn't cover all the bases the way I should have.

Thanks guys, hopefully Jeff at Spectacle comes through, thinks he may have one laying at the shop.

I would have thought there were more speed shops in Memphis. Come to find out there aren't but a couple.

We will see what happens tomorrow.

The stock Camaro seats arent that great for harnesses, upholstery shop can make a hole in them for the belts to pass through. The firebird seats are way better for harnesses..

The bar that bolts to the front of the seat for the crotch strap is only legal for stock seats, not for race seats.

Best bet is borrowing a passenger side harness if you can find one or maybe someone broke and isnt racing..

I feel your pain man. I had an out of date harness in my car that didn't even cross my mind until the guy mentioned it at tech. Tech is non-existent at all the tracks we race locally and the car has been sitting for nearly a year anyway. I had the wrap-around style in the car but ended up buying one of the bolt in style from the only place I could find one. I then found a tab to weld to the cage from Racecraft and a bolt to hold it on from a random racer. Madman then welded it on in about 30 seconds lol.

ya, I got thu tech last year with stock camaro seats :snky: get everything ready for the tech guy. helmet tag showing, divers licence, harness set up to read them, Like your local redneck track dose this every week ;) You don't wnat them to know your a noob.
but ya, sholder belts dont work on the stock seats, I just used the stock seat belts. Thats why I got the kirkeys now, harness fit great, and the tall back keep your head form hitting without a helmet. good luck tomarrow

Got a harness today, someone rolled in late at the manufacturer's midway and I was able to pick up a harness/ Much like K.P. said, it was a harness that went both ways - 'bolt in' or 'wrap around'.

Also recieved a call this morning from Jeff @ Spectacle Solutions with one, so he was going to come through. Great guy, and although I didn't need it, I greatly appreciated a follow up to my thread and a phone call bright and early this morning. For not knowing me from Adam, that was pretty cool. Thanks dude! You are a stand up guy.

Also got a crouch bar mounting strap from Burkhart's booth. That Red Camaro he has there is going to be pretty cool, should make a badass race car. Thanks Steve!

Only problem now is tuning for the weather, I went another 9.84 on my softer tune, the air was really good and so was the track, better than I anticipated. Gonna have to figure something out for first round tomorrow. Only got one hit in today.

Great show, minus the chilling temperatures, but they make for alot of fast passes!

I ended up going the first two rounds, but wasn't staying another day for an event that should have been ran and completed on Sunday.

There was alot of time wasted through the morning and early afternoon hours. Things were drug out......bad, not sure why. It cost them in the end.

Curious how many people stayed 'til Monday, I know I didn't. I left when they called it Sunday night.

Somewhat disappointed.
