Could have some potential, and I think it looks better than a CTS. But they need to do something about that back end. And they need to keep the trunk spoiler.

On a side note apparently Gm thinks our US designers/engineers are retarded and can't design good cars so GM they feel the need to ship out more jobs? But thats just me.

Opel has some cool cars that I think would sell in the states. Since Saturn is gone, Buick seems to be the best place for them.

Wait a global company designs stuff globally? The horror!

It actually makes sense for GM to do a lot of their smaller and midsized vehicle design in China and Europe, they'll sell the majority of those kinds of cars in those markets, whereas performance cars, trucks, crossovers and other primarily American/Canadian cars can be designed in Warren.

Wow thats Sick!!! I would buy one for sure if it was in the low to mid 30's for the GS granted they keep it AWD manual. Wow i really like those!

is it front or rear wheel drive?

kozak

I think rear, and all-wheel-drive optional.

The Euro Opel Insignia is FWD/AWD sadly :( Maybe they will do a RWD version for the Buick!

Eh, doubt it. I feel another rebadge in the works, not that thats a bad thing. I'd buy a 350HP (ish) awd Buick that weighed 3600 lbs. Hopefully no more than $30K.

EDIT: I just found somewhere online that said that the car weighed 3314 lbs

EDIT#2: And I just found another site that said it was 4000lbs, I guess we will just have to wait and see. I don't know why I'm excited for this car.

A fully loaded direct injected Cadillac CTS weighes in at 3,800 lbs. The heaviest Opel Insiginia I could find weighed in 3,500 pounds (http://media.gm.com/intl/opel/en/download/pdf/tdata/td_insignia_en.pdf). That was the weight for the Sports Tourer from Opel. So you're likely in the 3,500 to 3,800 lbs range depending on your engine and other options (AWD for example adds weight).

So lost now... I thought Buick, Saturn, and GMC were all going the way of Pontiac...

No, just Saturn. Hummer and Saab were sold (Hummer might still be for sale, but I thought they finished a deal w/ someone). Buick and GMC are here to stay.

Looks like the GS will be direct competition for the SHO. Let's hope they do as good of a job with the GS as Ford did with the SHO.

Maybe if we get lucky it will get the Cady turbo six found in the 2010 SRX, that would be badass.

They kept the Rear end, but it still sits like a 4x4 truck. I don't know I think it's a shape that has to grow on you... I hope.

I personally don't find it that appealing... it will probably be a decent road car though and will hopefully represt good value for money.

Well here are the specs.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/11/2011-buick-regal-returns-with-four-cylinder-only-engine-lineup/

Wait whats that sound? Oh I know it's GM sucking all the fun out of the room.

Some one in the comments section said "yeah but it still has 220 hp and get like 30 mpg". News flash my 1994 yeah thats right 1994 Buick Regal had about 220 hp and got more than 30 mpg. Welcome to 15 years ago.

This one indicates a GS model, 280hp , brembos and a 6-speed manual.

http://www.egmcartech.com/2009/10/16/report-2011-buick-regal-gs-will-offer-280-hp-and-brembo-brakes/

280 isn't enough in my mind, they need to stuff that new turbo cady engine in it and be done. They can never make it awesome, just good....dam you GM

kozak
11-12-2009, 11:19 PM
They don't even need the turbo caddy motor they could just use the euro spec motors and kill everything in its class. I think it makes 325hp/tq and still gets 30 ish mpg. Screw this detuned crap!

I hope they build a GS version worth having performance wise and can compete with the likes of EVOs and STIs. I don't know about y'all but I really would like some thing similar performance to an EVO or STI but with out the boy racer looks that come with those two cars.
