Well in mid August I began having an issue with my stock 10 bolt. It was popping and shaking the car and finally died on Sept. 6th.
Before this happened I was pretty satisfied with the performance of the car except for one thing, when I would do back to back high speed runs in the car the clutch pedal would stick to the floor.
Since I figured that if I was having this clutch problem and knew that if I only replaced the rear end the clutch would be next --- I decided to do them both at the same time.
I contacted Larry @ Speed Inc. and after a some consultation I decided to replace the 10 bolt with a Strange S60 w/4.10s and put in an LS7 clutch with a Tick master cylinder. An install date of October 8 was decided on.
Fast forward to October 7 -- I put the car on the trailer and headed to Speed Inc. with my Dad. We hit Chicago during rush hour ------this really sucked crazy construction, ridiculous traffic and all these toll roads (from Mich. to Indiana pay 4 bucks drive like 3/4 of a mile and you enter into Illinois and have to pay another 10 bucks. WTF is that highway robbery.) Anyways we were able to get the car dropped off around 8pm. Larry said that the car would be ready about 3pm the next day. I got a tour of the shop and was impressed by the cleanliness of the work areas as well as the calibre of vehicles.
The car was ready at 2pm October 8th. The install looked fantastic and I couldn't wait to get it home. The ride back home was a journey. I stopped about every hour and let the car cool for about 15 minutes and alternated speeds between 45 and 80 mph the whole way home so I could keep rowing the gears 4th to 6th gear with the new clutch. My poor Dad in the passenger seat is a saint and a very patient man.
FAST FORWARD to today. The clutch is now broken in. The rear end is broken in and the fluid has been changed twice. The difference in the car is night and day. With the 4.10's and LS7 clutch the car is chirping 4th! The shifts are so so much better with the new clutch and hydraulics -- no more pedal stuck to the floor and the clutch feel is awesome. It is also nice to know that the rear end isn't going to blow up. The rear end gear noise has gone significantly down since the first 300 miles and now sounds aboot as loud than stock.
OVERALL I am very satisfied with the products, installation and customer service that I received from Speed Inc.
A big THANKS to Larry, Fraser and all of the guys @ Speed Inc. hope to see you guys soon funds permitting.
I need a tune, underdrive pulley, motor mounts, cam etc. etc.
BOTTOM LINE I will be back
