Canadian Members - Cheap used engines

I am in Alberta,and reading this forum or other US sources, I often see them talk about how cheap a 4.8 or 5.3 engine can be had from the junkyard. Good, but it does not seem they are that cheap in Canada! So, am I just unlucky? Do you guys have good cheap sources (engine+trans+harness+computer...)? Or is it a lost cause in this country?

we're screwed. The cheapest I've found was basicly a core 6.0 for 500 bucks. I can't even find any ls1,2 or 7 in the wreckers around here.
There is a guy on here selling an ls2 for 3000 shipped to Canada.

Truck engines can be had or found for pretty cheap. Any aluminum block is going to cost you though. I've seen low mile truck 6.0L go for $300 longblock to around $1000.00 complete tb to pan incl comp and harness. $1500.00 gets you a 6.0L complete with all accessories and harness just about anywhere. True LS1's and LS2's are pricey and harder to come by in Canada though

If your still looking for a engine, I have a friend that runs a garage, they have a 5.3 engine sitting there, needs a water pump and alternator bracket. Said he would sell if for $500.00 with no harness,alternator, but otherwise complete,has coils on it. p.m me if interested.I could help in shipping it to you.
