I have a LS2 and MN12 6 speed out of a 06 CTS-v. I am putting it into my 70 Chevelle. I already converted the transmission to F-body shift location. I have noticed they (katech) sell a spacer for my LS7 clutch conversion. I was wondering exactly what it amounts to for $90. They are very careful not to show any pictures. I have a F-body throwout and was wondering if I could just use the throwout instead? If not would anyone share the specs of the Katech spacer? Is it just a $90 washer?

It's just a $90 washer. It's a nice washer but all it does it take up the extra space.

The f body slave is the same size as the cts-v slave. If u want to avoid the spacer you can use the LS7/C6 vette slave from what ive read.
If you want to use a f-body slave and the spacer. Your just going to have to make some changes to the fluid lines. ( I tired just swapping them but one is threaded the other is on a gasket ). From pics ive seen the napa and autozone f-body ones are threaded.
Cts-v slave in on the left, oem f-body slave in on the right

Machine/custom fabrication work isn't cheap. The more limited the production, the higher the cost. There's also the R&D cost involved.
I've had the Katech spacer behind my motor since July 07, with no issues. It's a quality part and whole lot cheaper than the LS7 slave ($$$ :eek2: ).
If you don't use a remote bleeder hose, you'll have to increase the notch depth (by about the spacer thickness) in your bellhousing so you can get a wrench on the stock bleeder valve. I also used Grade 10.9 bolts in the assembly.
You might also look into a higher temperature DOT3-compatible brake fluid for use in the clutch actuation system. High fluid temps are the main contributor to it's component's failure.

I stand corrected. I never saw what the spacer looked like so don't all you machinist guys get offended. Now that I see what it is I guess I'll have to buy it. I have a brand new CTSv throwout as well as a new GM performance Fbody one. I have the CTSv clutch master and line so I guess I will use that one? I want to use the best performing one. I guess I could sell the 2 new bearings and get a Vette one. Does the Vette throwout have the same connector as the V?

why not just use the brand new cts-v one you have?( if your going to buy the spacer. )
They all perform the same.
(Most of the ls1 and ls2 GTO guys use the f-body slave just cause its the cheapest..)

I was thinking that the GM performance F-body one is a upgrade. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com/performance_parts/index.html?item=725 I heard the CTSv one is pretty high dollar but you guys are probably right. I need to stick with a proven setup. Thanks for making me feel better about spending the $$.
