SAM instructors and students worked day and night preparing the '99 Camaro for the NMCA LSX Shootout. Once again, Judson Massingill and the Hugger Orange Camaro entered the All Motor Class. With some updates to the engine and a new Liberty gear box, Team SAM shattered records and brought home the champagne.

SAM's '99 Camaro ran low E.T., high mph, and won the race. The car qualified #1 with an 8.65@156.90. During first round of eliminations, the '99 SS surpassed the previous E.T. with an 8.58@157.60, weighing 3520 lbs! In the final, Judson Massingill kept it between the lines after the car went hard right on the launch. He held on for the win, with a 9.06@156.60.

All of us at SAM would like to give special "thanks" to Royal Purple, Wiseco, MSD, Total Seal, Comp Cams, Cometic Gaskets, Beck Mechanical, Don Bailey, Dave Braswell, Clevite Bearings, BMR, and E.R.L. our All Motor Class sponsor.

Congrats guys, great effort. The bar has been raised.
As far as the no competition part? Well, It can be argued that n/a heads up racing becomes the most expensive spend per gain once you reach 9.0 or so. Most of us don't have the resources to keep up with their program. This doesn't mean that we shouldnt show up and give it a shot.
That 9.0 in the finals may cost you next year. :secret2:

That statement would be fine if the rule makers hadn't done there best to keep new racers out. You only have to watch the video to see how dangerous these cars are getting.

The saftey issue is a whole other conversation. I was simply referencing the resources it takes to compete at that level. If you dont have 100k to build a car you can still show up and race and enjoy the event. This is why the index classes are more realistic for most.

those are some good times, but i think next year they should let motor cars weigh like 2900lbs and race in a 275 class with heavier power adder cars with smaller cubes.

wouldn't that be great?

275 radial is where its at.

limit the turbo goes maybe to an 88 at 3300lb?

Damn.
Take that beast down to 3200/3100 (if possible) and let's see what she'll do! :drive:

I believe there would be more competition if the NMCA had the LSX classes run at every event. Its a lot of money to spend for 1 event a year.

The other guy cut a better light.....LOL....

What is the motor spinning to in order to get that much HP NA?

Nevermind...I looked at all the detail on the webpage. 9300RPM yikers.

That's a lot of spinning without any bad vibrations! Very nice

You can find out more on our website www.samracing.com. We run 28x10.5 tires on the rear. The car is not mini tubbed
