LS4 Front-Drives 2005-2009 - GXP Help 05 v8

I know this a question that has been touched upon however I would like more information.

Vehicle is 2005 Grand Prix GXP V8 5.3l LS4

Question is : adding an intake

problem: what happens to the factory box that covers the computer that the wiring harness runs into.
It looks as if the factory air box also serves as a "home" for electronics...



Any help?

You lose the airbox, but the K&N 'heat shield' has brackets to hold the ECM and TCM.

in terms of protecting the computer, it sacrifices some shield from elements but honestly you would have to be in like 3 fee of water for it to get to it. A ton of people have those kits and i have NEVER seen anyone with issues regarding computers being exposed. And as jp said, it mounts to the heat shield
