Dyno & Bench Racing Forum - Bolt on 01 SS vs. Stock C5 ZO6, who would win?

Buddy just bought a stock 2003 C5 ZO6. I have a 2001 Camaro SS, full bolt on. Who would win and what would it take for my car to run with his?

Full bolt-ons with a 4.10 gearset if M6 or a good converter if auto, along with some sticky tires and some practice and you'll keep pace.

Of course if he can't drive you might hold him off.

You might keep up from a dig, but from a roll would still be hairy.

Z06 should take out a bolt-on fbody from a roll. From a dig you have a chance.

I had an 02 Z06 with just a blackwing and SLP Bellows. I've raced many friends with Fbodies. The break off seemed to be around 425 RWHP. That's where the Fbodies would hang with me. I was making 372 RWHP.

I outran one from a dig with a bolt on 99 ws6 still had the ls1 intake. My car had suspension work and very sticky drag radials though and a good converter.

Yea from a dig you'll have a good chance...upper rpms the Z will start to shine against a heavier Ls1.

Also, of it's an 01 then you'll stand a better chance. The difference between the 01 and 02+ is noticeable if you run against both .

Seems like suspension work would be my best bet.
