i was wondering how much of a difference it would make if i put the lighter 04 wheels and dropped the skid plate tow brace and gas tank brace i kno loosing weight makes a difference but how much

Rule of thumb i heard at shops is every 200lbs takes slightly less then .1 off the ET.
But i ran with full weight and Drag bags and got a 13.00 @ 109, i cant say for sure if taking all of those parts off would have made a difference.

I was debating running two spares in the front and taking the aformentioned parts off but then i figured that i want to know how my car performs in the setup i drive with every day. Just my opinion though.

yea i understand what u mean cause if i took the parts off i would only do it for the single race not for everyday

Actually, for every 100 lbs removed, it's probably closer to a tenth quicker ET (sort of like adding 10 more HP). Lighter wheels help even more because it's unsprung weight. I've heard significantly lighter wheels alone can gain you a couple tenths.

I picked up 2 mph with weld draglites.

Let the car sit for 90+ min, hood up witht the nose to the wind if possible. It's free and worth around 2 mph over a warm motor.

if you run the spares in the front don't do it on those tires. get some M&H skinnies. the stock ones won't handle speed. small weight reduction isn't worth it IMHO. the driver mod gets the cheapest and best results

Stock skinnies are good till at least 155ish mph. Had a spare on for a few weeks while waiting for one tire to come in about a year ago and saw above 150 a few times on it for extended periods of time (2 to 3 min). Came off looking almost as good as new and car still felt stable at those speeds.

it's your car and butt. they're not rated for that speed and just because the chamber was empty those times you're going to lose at Russian roulette eventually. it seems daily i'm reading of someone that wrecks their goat...

Drag wheels are way lighter than stock 17's I was really suprised how much difference there really was! I wanna try them bad! Take the back seat out its really easy. Run 1/4 tank of gas. Of course use drag radials. Maybe remove the skid plate. Tow brace isnt as important because its on the rear end where a lil weight doesnt hurt too much. Front passenger seat can be removed too but takes a few extra minutes but likely weights about 75 pounds!

1/4 tank of gas
no rear seat
no skid plate
drag radials

those should get you atleast 2 tenths with a good launch on the radials

A lot of your time is in your 60ft most say 1 tenth faster in the 60 is 2 tenths faster in the quarter work on ur launch
Im stuck at a 1.9 60ft launching at 4,500 and could get it faster bc car slightly bogs! but id have to take it over 5k on mostly stock drivetrain parts so im good for now.

I'm still wondering about these magical lighter '04 wheels. Never heard of them. The stock spare tires are NOT good to 150+, and definitly not for any sustained period of time. You are lucky to be alive. The tire manufacturer has said that they are safe to 128mph for short straighline use, and I have used them at the track. Most tech inspectors will not allow them though.
