The Story:
For those that do not know, about a week before the shootout we found a #8 cylinder dead on the motor and removed it from the car in a matter of 4 hours, stripped down to the block. During this time, I contacted LME (Late Model Engines) on a Friday evening and Bryan graciously said we could bring the motor to him ASAP. At this point I was worried I would not make it to the Shootout. In a matter of 2 days, with Bryan understanding my urgency, LME had the shortblock back together a ready to go, which then we made a 4-hour drive to pick it up 4 days before the Thursday pre-party. Talk about outstanding! Also, LG Motorsports came through for me and had a set of Cometic head gaskets I picked up locally; Thank goodness! 3 days before the Shootout we finally had the motor in and running strong, but the Texas rain would not allow us to test/run the car AT ALL before the Shootout. We had no idea what the car would run. At the pre-party, my in-laws won a pair of drag tires, which will save me $ next year on tires. Despite a few flaws this year with the Shootout, as always it was the best time I had all year.
Track Runs:
*We broke our previous records at MMP, and was excited to say the least. Check out those wheel stand pictures! Wow! (Thanks to BillyBob for the great pics.) The 10.50 runs are me letting out right after 4th gear; and, yes, this is an All Motor 346 running on a 4L60E!! :eek2: Do we see 9's in the future?
10.33 @ 127.46
10.20 @ 129.86 :eek2:
10.54 @ 107.09
10.51 @ 107.15
10.58 @ 103.68
10.57 @ 105.54
10.32 @ 119
MANY, MANY THANKS to GMPP for the $1,000 prize! I am so grateful for this. Also, NMCA for your hard work and dedication to help make this Event possible each year. Thanks to Madman & Co. for helping us set up the suspension correctly, LME for delivering great service in a time of need, and LG Motorsports for having gaskets that no one else would've had until too late! I'm already looking forward to next year!
