This is wish full thinking, but Route 66 in Joliet would be nice.

I thought AL-ANABI owned Memphis? I knew he had an interest in Joliet, but they could'nt put anything together :( He already owns a couple tracks in the states.

the only solution now is bowling green.. how about you mail some flyers to everyone who participated each year and they can send back votes?

Why is that? Plenty of other choices.

bowling green is the home of the corvette! its only a couple of hours away from memphis, its a great facility, its easy to get to and the surrounding area is beautiful and great.

Couple hours to get to is somewhat mythic. It's 200 miles to Nashville and then about another 60 to Bowling Green.

2 good ones are the old red river raceway in shreveport, la and also no problem raceway in belle rose, la. no problem is well know for setting record times and breaking plenty of rear ends. just my thaughts though.

Doesn't Bowling Green already have 1 event in the spring on the NMCA schedule?

IDK, they don't have the 2010 schedule posted. Whatever you do, don't make criticism toward the ownership. I was there Saturday for the "fun day racing" and it was way overloaded with motorcycles. I complained via e-mail that I thought the motorcycles were different enough to warrant their own day. The owner basically told me to suck a dick, lol.

Yes Bowling Green has an NMCA event, it's usually at the beginning of May. Obviously I would love for the event to be here though, Beech Bend is 10 minutes from my house.

The new owners did not get the track up and going til late in the year.

I'm guessing the NMCA guys have some time before they typically publish their next-year racing schedule. So if MMP reopens/changes hands soon one would think they would book that again. If they don't know what's up with MMP by when they would typically announce the schedule (PRI?) then one might think they'd make other plans at that point. MMP or BG, I'll be at either location.

Just a suggestion: Texas is in the middle of everyone and they just opened a 1/4 mile ALL CONCRETE track in Crandall, Texas. This place is HUGE, no grass parking and it's track is perfect and smooth to boot! Never have any traction problems, although the traction at MMP was outstanding! Bowling Green, KY is a 12-hour drive for me. :(

How is TX in the middle of everyone?! If you didn't notice, the DR field was dominated by a little group called "Ohio Boys Racing". Oddly enough, they are not from Tx hahaha.

We really don't have any say in where this race is headed to next year, so there's no point in discussing it at this point. Gateway, Zmax, Bowling Green, KCIR, etc. There are multiple options that are able to handle a race this size.

Texas would be another 6 to 7 hours more on top of the 17 1/2 hour drive. I guess it could be worse, it could be in Ca.

i dont know why people dont suggest a track that is best for everyone, rather than one that is close to their house. the biggest problem for me with memphis is that there is no good way to get there. nashville takes less time and is easier to get to than memphis for just about everyone.

True, but until the Nashville superspeedway owners get their heads out of their asses, there is no 1/4 mile track in Nashville. Closest thing to Nashville is bowling green.

Oklahoma, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky are all pretty close to me within a few hours of driving. I am sure some of the large shops are used to driving for national events or racing events anyway. :)

John:

MMP was for sale all of last year. The deal they thought they had for a new owner fell through. All this information is on the Internet. In this economy unless they can piggy back all the old events NO ONE will buy this place. They were in bad shape because they had LOST a couple of big events.

This event needs a fall date... If they, NMCA - GM - LS1Tech dick around waiting for a new MMP owner, in my opinion I think they are wrong. :corn: But these same folks have had other issues that weren't settled either, in my opinion.

Beech Bend Park - that's that track in Ky - B - Green. Contact persons name was Jones. I still think they manage it. They will put together a progrom for you today. You first need to ask. Just like in sales John. How in the hell do you get the business unless you ASK. :hail:

Bikes are ok - Milan runs bikes at their monthly heads ups series.

The race dog and I went to a Ohio Valleys heads event in October. They were running bikes. Here was the problem - in my eyes. :guns:

Ohio Valley is along the Ohio River South of Louisville. October in the evening is too late to be running bikes. Edgewater near Cincinnati has the same problem. After 8PM you have mist on the track. Three bikes went down trying to win 1,000.00. Each rider left the track in the meat wagon. NHRA says you can't run without a meat wagon at the track.. Long delay :corn:

There is a place for Bikes etc. I enjoyed seeing my first 7 second 1/4 mile snow mobile this year. That was fun!!

I really liked MMP but if they are going to move it they should bring it to Norwalk AKA Summit Racing Motorsports Park!

There are a few places large enough to hold it, and have experience holding large events. If NMCA wants to work with Dover, they can possibly use Gateway in St. Louis. It's a nice facility, I bracket race there all the time. It's also centrally located. Another good option would be Indy. They host big events like this all the time. Chicago wouldn't be a bad choice either. The areas I have mentioned, and Bowling Green, wouldn't be a bad drive for many and would still attract a lot of people IMO.

Norwalk is nice but too far North from Memphis. If anyone were to pick Norwalk you would need to get your act together and contact them. They have a FULL racing schedule. Their infield is also paved.

They ran a monthly heads up series there last year. Wasn't attended very well. The track is long enough.

Right or wrong I urge someone to do something soon. Pick a track interested in having this event.

I agree with you J-R10-5, norwalk is a great track, but now consider the people that are coming from the south and as far as texas. but if they do decide to do Norwalk, Im definitely there.

Yes, but maybe there would be a little more participation from the western portion of the country if it was a little closer to the center.

im 1,200/18hrs miles away in New Mexico which I guess isn't too bad but the west coast is almost 2K away.

No, the Ohio Boys aren't from Texas. And if you're ever out driving in Ohio and drive by a house or a pole barn. You might have just passed the OHIO BOYS SHOP.

I didn't go to this event. But, I think 5 DR cars came from one monthly heads-up series out of Michigan.

Hopefully everyone knows there is another web board run by some of the same folks that run this board. For them, I've volunteered to do a series of DR racing stuff on the Ohio Boys and where they race in 2010.

A car that dominates a race or series still needs to do the same thing everyone else does the next time they go racing. The key is the Ohio Boys test and go racing often. :hijack:

This thread is about where the LS race will be next year.
