2010 Camaro - Camaro5 I got banned for this trying to help

On camaro5 I tried to help a guy who wanted to mod his v6. I told him that I had a v6 before and as of now I would've done things differently. Anyway I got banned... I think it is very funny. I didn't know the v6 guys had such thin skin.

I don't feel that temporary ban was necessary, a warning by PM should have been more than sufficient. Unless you got a warning and didn't take heed.

I'm on those forums all the time, not the V6 section bc I'm getting the V8 but I think half those guys who were giving you a hard time because one they probably couldn't afford a V8 Camaro so they bought the V6 or they have the false assumption that the 300hp V6 is just as quick as the LS1 V8's. I can understand that if they had to go with the V6 bc they couldn't afford the V8 car that they are just trying to find ways to make the car a better performer or sound better. If the guys just think that the V6 is fast enough and that the V8 isn't worth the money then yes they need a lesson taught to them by a V8 car. The 5thgen V6 sounds worse then the 4th gen v6. Every clip so far of setups on the 5th gen v6 sounds way to much like a 350/g35....and it just does not fit on a "Camaro" Yes, we all know a v6 will never sound like a V8....DUH! But you can still get a good sounding exhaust for a 4th gen v6.

yea, my wife and I also own an '04 g35 and I do like the sound, but it's stock lol. I don't plan on putting an exhaust on it to make it sound like a supra either. If anything I'd try to up the power by long tubing it or something but the cat back would def stay stock. I like her car, but I don't get why these guys are like I want a 2010 and I want it to sound like a nissan or infiniti.

Thats the most rediculous statement I've ever heard. Besides the fact that there are 6 cylinders that would beat even a procharged ls1, people who buy v6 CHOOSE to buy them. I could easily afford a v8 5th gen but if I get one it would be a v6. This guy wants to put a catback on his v6. Big deal. To reply to both of you. Why is the v6 the best seller of any Camaro or Firebird? Because people like the looks and don't need or want a v8. Not everyone is about performace. There is around a $7k differance between a ls and a 1ss. To a young guy buying a car thats alot. Maybe you havn't seen any of my other posts. I have two v8 toys. I am interested in a V6 Camaro because it looks good and 3 to 4 mpg highway would be worth it to me, as with many, many other people.

I currently do outside sales for an HVAC wholesaler. I am looking for a new car, decently fun to drive, decent gas mileage, and great looks. A v6 5th gen is exactly that.

I didnt say a 5th gen would get 30 city. I said between the v8 and v6 5th gen alot of people would rather have the 3 or 4 mpg. He said his ls1 gets 30 plus mpg. I stated that is bs. Sure it can freeway driving, but city and highway will not be close to 30mpg. Plus it doesnt have a warranty which 90% of new car buyers look at and is a harsher ride and worse base platform. Swap prices for a second. Make the V8 cheaper than the v6 and make insurance for the 8 cheaper than the six and make the normal v8 prices and insurance go for the 6. I freakin guarantee that the number is 6s bought will drop by 90% or more.

as for the v6 getting better miles per gallon... I had a 2000 v6 ttop camaro and I thought with the 6 I was supposed to get better mileage. NO! I actually get better mileage in my heavy 2002 vert m6 full bolton SS. Mods are supposed to decrease mpgs too, so v6 better mileage than the v8 in the same car does not hold water. I never counted 30+mpgs in my 6.

When I bought my 6 back in the day I didn't even know they put 6s in Camaros. I got disappointed too! I was trying to get a fast car though.

I've pushed 31 out of my V6 with the automatic, straight highway.

If I could have afforded the LS1 I would have gotten it... now how much I've put into this fixing it over the past 2 years I could have had an LS1 but had no idea it was going to need so much work when I bought it (though the warning signs were there, just didn't see/pay attention to them).

and when I got 30, my car was loaded with stuff...

Of course someone like you would say, big deal they are just as fast.. but what you fail to grasp is the principal of the matter and the means for each vehicle to get to that point. Than again, people like you will just stay close-minded and believe that what you do is the only way to do things.

bottom line IN MY OPINION, i had a 96 v6 camaro and it felt like it was missing something. i spent a lot of money on exhaust for the car and guess what? it was still missing something - 2 extra cylinders. so i speak from my own personal experience. don't like it? i really don't give a shit. this is my opinion so fight back the tears.

yup i helped one of my friends mod his v6 and he put a lot of money into it. we could of got a used v8 for the same price or cheaper and it would of been a lot faster.

he was hard stuck on putting a v6 back into that car.

the thing is so slow i can't hardly even tell the difference between that and stock.

More than half of people buying 5th gens, maybe more, dont car about speed. Its a great looking car. Thats what they want, and v6 is just fine for them. Same thing with 4th gens.

Your statements show alot of masked insecurities of a semi short guy syndrome saying you have to have a v8 if you have a Camaro, even though most people are just fine with the power of a v6. For most people in a daily driver situation, a v6 works best. You don't see yourself as manly enough to get by driving a v6, hence the small dick comments. You also seem like a homophobe. as for the v6 getting better miles per gallon... I had a 2000 v6 ttop camaro and I thought with the 6 I was supposed to get better mileage. NO! I actually get better mileage in my heavy 2002 vert m6 full bolton SS. Mods are supposed to decrease mpgs too, so v6 better mileage than the v8 in the same car does not hold water. I never counted 30+mpgs in my 6.



Well you just showed what a dumbass you really are, if by bolt on's you mean something like a lid & full exhaust, those types of bolt on's usually add more power & help gas mileage. Power is a matter if efficency, if you open up the exhaust & add something like a lid & filter to get more & cooler air into the motor, under normal driving conditions you should see a decent improvement in gas mileage. If you didn't see an improvement in gas mileage when you added whatever bolton's you had you fucked up royally. You don't start losing mileage until you start adding stuff like H/C, Gears, bigger tires & stuff like that.

Huge Ass cam, TFS 215 CNC heads, Fast 90/90, built motor 11.7/1 comp, running 325-50-15 MT DR's with a 12 bolt & 3.73's, stock CI & in OD with the converter locked it does better than 25 MPG on the highway. On the kit it's in the 9's & still better than 25 MPG on the highway if you set the cruise between 75-80. Oh yeah due to the 12 bolt all the suspension, anti roll bar, still has full interior, battery relocate & a 2 bottle rack in the back it's heavier than stock weight.

Here's a Vid in case you don't think the car exists. Listen to the cam, doesn't sound like it should even be a 10mpg cam, much less a 25+ mpg cam.

bottom line IN MY OPINION, i had a 96 v6 camaro and it felt like it was missing something. i spent a lot of money on exhaust for the car and guess what? it was still missing something - 2 extra cylinders. so i speak from my own personal experience. don't like it? i really don't give a shit. this is my opinion so fight back the tears.
