damn man i hope your ok. a car can be replaced regardless of how "rare" it is. you can never be replaced. just remember in a few weeks itll be fixed with some fresh paint on it!!

billymz28
10-31-2009, 07:55 PM
Yeah mainly sore but ill live. It had all new paint about 2 months ago due to some vandals . its only got 55000 miles on it but i dont think they will it.

10-31-2009, 08:12 PM
and billy i don't think it will be totaled bc your car only has 53,000 miles on it, if it didn't bend the unibody then i think you'll be fine plus the airbags didn't go off so thats another plus

Generally speaking. When a tire blows out, let off the accelarater and you can coast to the side of the road. Don't use the breaks. So I'm kinda agreeing with you here.

That cars totaled. I hate to see these cars like this.

But I'm glad to hear your okay. That looks bad.

10-31-2009, 08:47 PM
i was aceelerating and getting over i think it blew while doing that. It jerked hard to the left. was nothing i could do but go along with the ride. I think the unibody is tweaked my left side of my duals hitting the ground. The rear tire was complety of the rim and the rim destroyed. And no david i am not incriminating myself.

If i had a shop and the know how a lsx swap to something else would be nice

I owe about 6000 on the car so i dont know if i will have enough to buy it back. But if i do havent decided if i am going to keep the parts for a new ride or part out. are people coming out pretty good on part outs. The ss spoiler will sell deffintly and the inside of the car is perfect. Yeah the hood flew up and hit the window there is a indenteion where the ram air hit.

Well, I need an black interior for a car thats getting redone. Thats a start for parting it out, shipping wouldn't be an issue either. The car is in tulsa right now for paint so I could get someone to pick the parts up. I'd suggest making a list of stuff you know will be saleable and see if there would be any takers on here for the parts. It sucks about the car but like everyone said, the important thing is that your alright. Have you been wanting anything else like a vette?

Glad to see your alright, it always sucks to hear this kinda stuff on here. Its probably totaled but I think you have the right idea. Id buy it back, sell the driveline, interior and panels on the back that are still good doors, hatch, tail panel etc. Then take whats left to a junk yard and jump into a C5 or something.

ya that would be my guess too and the driveline alone is worth more than that plus the interior is still good as well.

if it pushed that drivers frame rail back or swayed it it's totaled. I've been around rebuilders and body work my whole life. I've seen cars with a dented corner of the hood, headlight and maybe a fender get totaled out. Low mileage Grand prixs. it's really sad. Hate to see a nice NBM SS get wrecked

Blk99ek
11-01-2009, 06:23 PM

billymz28

that sucks - sorry about your loss.

what tires were they and which tire blew out?

it was the left rear and they were cheap sumotsus or something like that.

what sucks is that we have a camaro firebird salvage here so i am sure he will offer a pretty penny for the car to drive up my buy back price.

ok smart ass but it's not always true. But usually. Face it these cars are becoming cheap and they are easy to total now. i've seen frame damaged cars with clean titles as well. Along with the ones that were barely hit that were totaled. From all the comments people were making about it might be, it might not be i was simply putting my opinion in that i thought it was likely totaled. Just going from past experience and what i've seen. The sarcasm was a little uncalled for. If you don't like my opinion, keep in mind that wasn't towards you, it was towards the O/P and your response wasn't necessary. You only gained one post count since that's all your post was good for~Cole~

O/P keep us updated on what the insurance company does. I may know some people interested in parts if you buy it back :)

Cole Train
11-01-2009, 08:05 PM
i saw a blazer once('97 when it was about 2 years old then) that was SMOKED in the front drivers side. i mean toasted. replaced the whole frame and fixed the body damage and still had a clean title. With todays racks and electronics for getting stuff square they can fix alot. But it's hit or miss wether a company wants to do it or not. Sometimes people push for it to be totalled cause they don't want it after a big wreck. Personally that SS would be fixed if it was mine. If the bags aren't blown then i'd take my chances on a frame fix and fix it up instead of send it to the scrap yard. i bought my Vette wrecked. No frame damage or bags blown but it's got a clean title.~Cole~

I would love for them to fix it because like i stated in my topic this is the car that i have always wanted that i really could obtain. I just hear nightmares about cars that have had frame damage and never being the same. Plus they almost totaled it a few months ago for someone breaking into the car. They dented the rear quarter badly broke the front winshield and the t top and some other damage. Some of you may remember the post. They put 4600 dollars in damage on that occasion.

You still have hope!!!! I had somebody run a red light and pull right out in front of me and I hit hig at about 50. It looked a lot like yours. Well, I was there when the adjuster looked at it, and the first thing he asked me as the mileage and year. When I told him it was a 98 with 100K, he just flat out said, "Im sorry to tell you this, but I don't think there is any way this car won't come out totalled." He and Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, TX figured an estimate of $8000 to fix it and they valued my car at 7K. Long story short... I asked for him to give me a list of everything needed, and I asked for an appearance allowance just low enough for the estimate to stay under it being "totalled". Luckily, I was able to get all my parts off here, craigslist, ebay, junk yards, and a couple from the dealer with only about $200 out of my pocket. (Including an SS hood!) So don't give up!!! Just talk to them and see what you can do!! Worst case scenario: BUY IT BACK!

billymz28
11-04-2009, 07:00 PM
Well talked to the body shop today they said it would be a coin toss on totaling it. Atleast it wasnt a deffinate total yet. Mean while i found a frc vette in my area i may be interested in.

emo 200 for the tick and speed bleeder. If they total it and allan dont buy it from me.

11-04-2009, 11:44 PM
well, it is your dream car, but if it were me i guess i would hope it would be totaled, its only gonna hurt resale if it isnt totaled because a lot of people dont want something that has been a coin toss if it was gonna be totaled. i hope it turns out the way you want. good luck

i am glad that you are okay..sucks that your dream ride isnt..i can only imagine how you feel..i wuld def try to buy it back and if you cant fix it part her out to other worthy cars..if its not totalled make sure you get the RIGHT BODY shop to go over the entire car..and like somebody said earlier, see if YOU can come up with the right parts on your own and see if they wont total it..that way..lotta times if you provide your own parts its a shit ton cheaper and therefore lower the cost of the repair job

dam man, glad your ok. Like everyone says, lives arent replaceable, but vehicles are. I built my old truck from COMPLETELY stock with 78k miles on it. I got T-boned and they said the frame was tweaked (from when I whipped around and hit a pole cuz the dumb bitch was speeding, it wasnt terrible, but spring perch's were thrashed) if I coulda found a clean titled cab I woulda chucked the bed and bought it back.

Sometimes things happen like this that you REALLY wish didnt so you can make better out of the outcome. Sadly I lost my truck and have to start over with a bone stock T/A..... SADLY... :eyes: and I got back on 2 wheels which is my passion.

Chin up man, things will work out, your alive to live another day :chug:
