Ok so i bought a 1999 trans am last month its a m6, its my first ls1! It was bone stock when i bought it. It isnt going to be my daily driver, but i want it to be 100 percent streetable, if i want to go on a 3 hour drive i want to be able to worry free.

Ok heres what im lookin for, im looking to get around 450rwhp...right now i have

Texas Speed 1 7/8" Long Tube Headers
Texas Speed 3" Off Road Y Pipe
borla catback exhaust
umi tubular rear control arms
umi tubular panhard bar

I was just wondering what the best parts would be at achieving this? thanks guys

450 is a pretty good number....you have a restrictive intake...get a ported fast 92 intake with med. size cam and tsp prc 5.3 2.5 heads or ls6 2.5 is better.. do you have a lid yet?.. fuel pump ect ect i would get a pat g cam.... they make better power.

+1 what he said. I'm no expert as I will tell anyone but I do read alot and have heard alot. But I don't think you need to get the the 1 7/8 headers that's to big on a stock motor. Now if you get a bigger cubic inch motor maybe 380+ cubes then that will be okay. An when you say you want 450rwhp, did you mean 450hp at the crank or 450hp at the rear wheels. IMO if your going to be putting down 450rwhp that's going to be hard, you will have to have a very good if not perfect and matching setup and as far as streetable I don't think it will be as user friendly. But what's streetable for you may not be streetable for me. An since you are a M6 you will need to get 4.10 gears to help out with that cam 23*/23*.

i had 4.10 gears and took them out i didnt like it at all.. my cam is a 231/237.... my buddy has a trq2 from tsp and heads he put down 440 to the ground and drive very easy and stil gets 25mpg!

thru a six speed it shouldnt be to hard actually ... get urself a cam of your choice most people go in the 230's range i personally like the torqer v2 or the f13 cam do some 2.5 ls6 heads with bolt ons and u should be there if u on a budget do an ls6 intake if not a fast 92 setup..

for the best driveability....spend your money on GOOD heads. that way you can go smaller on the cam and still make the money.

big cam + budget heads = 450rwhp and less street friendly
mild cam + great heads = 450rwhp and near stock manners.

AFR 205s, TFS 215s or TSP 215 (prc i think)
TSP 228R or maybe the "el torro"

if funds allow you can put a ported FAST on it....

Thanks for all the input guys, what are some good heads, and how do i know what heads and cams will sync well together?

Do u think the stock 10 bolt will hold up to 450 rwhp?

around town the rear end could hold. could not.

mine's been holding on aggressive street for quite some time with 400rwhp...3 yrs with 315 DRs.

but i don't dump it...but i do powershift

I'm in love with AFR heads. Before buying I would call AFR and ask them for thier cam/intake recomendation in order to best match the heads.

afr's are big name big price.....not worth the $ unless you have a stroker or race all the time imo prc is the way to go

some rear ends will hold that power for a very long time, but if you go to the track with drag tires and dump the clutch every couple of weeks... better save for a 12 bolt

Stock bottom end? If so, Advanced Induction CNC 243's. I think pretty good for the money. They have new cores, or will do customer supplied. Dean

imo, best way to make that power and keep that worry free streetability would be with nitrous.

ya what they said, do full bolt ons, suspension, gears, and 150 shot, your looking at close to 500rwhp and extremely streetable.

i would buy used pacesetter LT's,3" ory,cut out, ls6 intake ported tb,and then if funds allow you to #243's and a medium cam 23x-23x

if you have 2k for tfs or afr or prc's i wouldn't buy them with that stock t56 and stock 10 bolt 6 speed's and 10 bolts are not the best of friends :)

IMO I think the 10 bolt will hold up as long as you don't dump the clutch and as long as you don't hook really good. But if you 400+rwhp and you hook good it not going to last long. You can all venegance racing, afr or tsp to get them to help make you a choice on the head and cam combo.
